Hey guys bought my LCR at a gun show pretty cheap for 399+tax. Went with the .38 spl +P and my question is ..

What ammo is considered "hot" besides the +P . I see that there are 110, 130, 158 gr bullets but some also say "38 spl magnum"? Kind of confused. Also which ammo is good for carry? I picked up a box of hornady 110 gr for now.
Thanks

+p is simply .38sp loaded for modern revolvers vs most 'standard pressure' which is loaded usually mild in deference to guns made before heat treatment was common, had aluminum frames or were lower quality.
.38 special is not a hot round by most modern standards, it generates under 20K psi compared to mid 30K psi and up for most autopistol rounds popular today (exc .45acp).
The LCR is +P rated, try the Speer Gold Dot +p 135gr load. It's well respected and works.

use what you can handle & put on target. Placement usually always trumps all the WOW factors..

I'll second the Speer Gold Dot 135+P!

It's one fantastic performing round and arguably the best defensive load on the market for the .38 Spl.
