Federal 5.56 MK318 MOD 0 Chrono Results From A 10.5'' SBR

I'm always searching for the best ammo for my SBR and most of the guys I work with either run one of 2 loads––-Speer Gold Dot 64gr (or the Fusion 62 version) or the MOD 0 load we're testing here today. Both loads are recommended by Dr. Roberts and are probably good choices for a rifle (SBR) that is already compromising muzzle velocity due to the short barrel.

Here's the chrono test I ran to document the real world results:

Chrono data: 2617fps, 943 ft/lbs energy.

I've chronographed some of the Mk 318 from a 11.5" and a 14.5" rifle.

11.5" - 2687 fps

14.5" - 2863 fps

It did particularly well from the 14.5" upper, with an ES of 16 fps and SD of 7.89.

I have a stash of Mk318 in my "primo" 5.56mm rainy day cubbyhole. That and SSA 70gr Barnes TSX 5.56mm as well as Mk262. All 5.56mm NATO pressure loads, no .223. That stuff doesn't get shot.

Well, that same day I did my tests with the MK 318, I did some Black Hills Mk 262 and here's what I got:

11.5" AR - 2421 fps
14.5" AR - 2577 fps

That 14.5" velocity is a little disappointing. I was hoping for 2600-2700 (haven't chrono'd it myself).
