View Full Version : The CC 9mm Project Update
Finally got the Barsto match barrel and custom bushing properly fitted and worked the recoil spring back up to 16lbs.
Brass is ejecting 3-4 feet to the right even with lighter target loads.
White dot front sight is about as close as Dawson can get without having to custom machine it. Close enough for IDPA work.
For those that missed it the first time:

Funny, I am considering a LWC build doing it frame up but haven't decided which frame to use. Thinking Caspian so I can get a customized SN#

somewhere :embarassed:
started life as a '78 Combat Commander in 9mm
lived most of its life on its right side (probably under a truck seat in Louisiana)
Bought a handful of Ed Brown stainless parts
local smith installed them
First finish: Black T
Second finish: Cerakote
Dawson did the front sights (three times)
Novak wide-notch rear
Alchemy Custom Weaponry fitted the Barsto match and custom bushing
local smith #2 tuned the barrel/bushing/spring
grips changed about 6 or 8 times
Virgil Tripp mags
I shoot local IDPA with it.

Ah! I did a search, you have a crap-ton of threads on this gun, just not alot of step by step. I love to check out the process. Nice work all the same man, looks fantastic. 9+1, or those 10 round mags?
Thnx, it's been my "learner" 1911.
Yessir, Virgil Tripp's 10 rounders
He and his family are good folks to deal with.
They lost their home in the Bastrop, TX fire last year, but his shop survived.
He was the "T" in "STI".
When I had money and a wild hair I had a pair of them. One 9mm, the other .45

Beautiful gun for ESP. I bought a double-stack 1911 in 9mm so I could also learn the platform, and use it for IDPA ESP. Yours is alot prettier than mine.
