10 Ring Precision built me a custom 1911 back in 1990 that is still the most accurate 1911 I have. It came with the target (10 shot group at 50 yards under 3 inches) and still shoot great to this day. Built on an Essex frame and Colt slide.

Any Les Baer model with Or without the 1.5" Option @ 50 yrds. All Baers will do less than 3" @50 yrds.
I've never owned one. But my 1991 Commander shoots just fine.
I have really been amazed with how accurate my EB Kobra has been from the first trigger pull on.
I have quite a few that are very accurate.
I shoot my Infinity the best, due to the accuracy of the gun and the amazing trigger.

Damn bac, I cannot get enough of that gun!!! It's always been one of my favorites.
Thanks :)
I really love the Infinity.
I have several that shoot very well but my Wilson is the best I have ever shot.

My old Kimber is excellent. It makes me look good.

My best shooting 1911 is a Les Baer SRP with the 1.5" accuracy guarantee.
my springfield pro will shoot hole in hole all day long if i am up to it. the best shootability came from my trp operator. combination of weight, bull barrel, and heavy recoil spring made it recoil less than a 9mm. it too was a tack driver.

My Dan Wesson CCO is the most accurate and best trigger of a 1911 I've ever shot. Just amazing.

Mine are all quite accurate. However, my Guncrafter and Ed Brown Special Forces has been great. I just picked up a Wilson CQB today. I haven't shot it, yet, since I picked it up after going to the range.

Who makes that gun?
my Les Baer premier II ties with my old USGI 1967 built national match pistol. I can shoot one handed bullseye shooting groups of under 2 inches at 25 yards. my groups at 50 yards hover around 5 inches, but the guns can definitely still do better.
My old Kimber is excellent. It makes me look good.
Same for me.
I had a few Colts over the years and then the Kimber, the difference is obvious from the shooter's perspective.
I'd love to own a Bauer or other top tier gun someday, but I can't honestly say the targets would notice.
A good 1911 is something special.

My DW Guardian 9mm is the best from the factory that I shoot. Not saying it's my "most accurate" gun, but I shoot damn good with it. I had Chuck fit a Kart .38 Super barrel into my Kimber 9mm Target II and it may be the most accurate gun I own.

The Guns may, but many a man can't! I'll have to say the best shooting one i owned, was a DW CC0. The only one i own now is my SA TRP, which i'm very happy with.
I think that any full size 1911 can shoot better than I can.
If I take my time and do everything properly even a cheap Mil-Spec shoots great.
The Guns may, but many a man can't!
Very true, but its still fun to talk about a gun's capabilities. :)

My smoothest operating 1911 is my Yost Signature, built on a stainless Colt. It is the easiest of all my handguns to shoot well. It is effortless.
My most mechanically accurate 1911 is my 1.5" Les Baer Premier II. I'll never know exactly what it's capable of, because I'll never be good enough to outshoot the gun. It's not as perfectly fitted and finished as my Yost, but it is built to drive tacks.

Wow, there are some nice 1911s in this thread. I wish I could afford most of them. For me though , I have to say the most accurate 1911 I have ever owned is my Springfield range officer. I love it! Especially now that I have installed a new tritium front sight from Dawson precision.

The Kimber Classic Stainless I used to own, but honestly I think it was the ammo, not the gun, I believe my RO would shoot just as well with the same ammo. A friend of mine back in KS hand loaded and he had been doing so for a thousand years and had it down pat. He wasn't a rich guy and he sold me ammo at half of retail, that way I saved a bunch and he made a few bucks, plus he knew if something ever did go wrong and my gun blowed up I wouldn't sue him:supergrin:
Right now it's my Harrison 2011.

In this photo Costa is doing a demo and shooting at my target. The target was shot from 3 yards all the way out to 25yards and including going from different positions. One drill was standing, kneeling, standing at 25yards. the 2 high rounds were from standing and the others were from kneeling, both at 25 yards.

Its as much a 1911 as any other clone, kimber etc.If one wants to be a purist only a colt would suffice, that is a small version of a 45 Llama.Only difference is as 32 acp blowback, from 380 up can have same locking and everything.Other than that no differences in operation,in my small version.
I have a 45 acp also have a truck to carry it with.

The parts on a kimber interchange with colt. LLama is a spanish saturday night special. I wound up with one in a lot of guns at an estate auction. It was almost new and still absolute garbage. If you are willing to trust your life to cheap spanish junk, more power to you.:rofl:

No, it is most assuredly NOT a 1911. Just because a firearm sorta looks like a 1911 that doesn't make it so. I am not bashing your gun but don't fool yourself by thinking it is something that is not.
Hmm the vast majority of firearms info websites list it as such but guess depends upon the crowd your in.The Llama 45 is considered by most to be a 1911 clone,it is but a smaller version,im happy with it any way shoots nice 2 in groups at 11 yards.
The 45 acp I own isnt anywhere near a 1911 -hipoint jhp eats any ammo no fte no ftf,to large stays on the nightstand.

Uh, no its not.
Even the 45 Llama is not interchangeable with a 1911. That's Colt, Kimber, or otherwise.
Sorry to burst your bubble.

Dang, it's shame you sold it.
They go for big bucks today,
A STI Trojan .45 acp tuned by Brazos Custom. Then again, it is the own 1911 I've ever owned.
Only other 1911 type ive owned other than the LLama, is a Polish Radom in 9mm,built on a 45 frame havnt a clue if parts interchange.
Had nazi markings rather crude late war but accurate.Sold late eighties.
Am eying a small american tactical,or rock island or springfield ,cant cc a full size as am small.7 rds or single stack mag,no pinkie ext, 3.2-3.5 in barrel-500 bucks inc tax nib, dont care how much it weighs want some weight.
This is not bad. Personally built from a Remsport frame/slide kit. 45ACP.

My 10 Ring Precision came with a 3 inch @50 yard guarantee and targets were sent with the gun. A friend has a Les Baer 1.5 inch guarantee gun as well. Both are awesome shooters. With that said, we both shoot the 10 Ring Precision gun better.
Even in a Ransom Rest, we have never been able to duplicate the 1.5 inch at 50 yards (5 shot)
We have gotten 10 shot groups around 3 inches though.

What I love about that pistol is that it manages to exude all the "bling" one would want in a custom gun, but still has a tremendous amount of class and taste. Thats a real work of art.
Absolutely without a doubt the best shooting 1911 I have is a 1978 Colt (LW) Commander .45. Had it NP3+ coated by Robar and now use it as my EDC. Of course its also my ONLY 1911, but . . . .:whistling:
you've ever owned?
One I built myself, mainly using parts I bought on Ebay. Not really concerned with looks or anybody's name on it. I built it to shoot in IDPA/CDP but now it's mainly a gun I keep in my truck, since I don't have much invested in it.

I only thing I don't like are the bright stainless controls. I specified stainless, but honestly was thinking it would be more of a matte look. That's the only thing I was disappointed with when I took delivery of the gun in 2009. That said, it's a minor gripe. The gun is an amazing shooter and top notch quality.
