View Full Version : To each his own.
I'm not sure what he is getting but one of my co workers is getting one of those commemorative 1911's that are gold and black and have a bunch of engraving on them and it's meant just to look at, and he spent 1700 bucks on the damn thing, and he doesn't have huge bucks. I tried to talk him into a regular 1911, but he had to have this one. To each his own I guess:alex:

What's wrong with having a pretty gun and shoot it too? Back in the days, all the guns were pretty and meant to be carried and shot.

Well at least it's still a 1911.

I don't do gold or engraving on a handgun, but like you said, to each their own.

I tried to win one at an NRA dinner in 2011. Sadly I did not. With that said, I would not pay that much just to own a display gun.
Pics!
He doesn't have the gun yet and I don't know where he got it from, so no pics yet:embarassed::supergrin:

It's like buyin' Elvis plates or Royal Wedding souvenirs...
I almost got a Colt Centennial 1911 last year, had it ordered and even paid for in full- then after waiting about a year and a half and realizing I could use the money to have a stock 1911 customized I cancelled it.
I personally don't care for 1911s marked made in Brazil/Philippines, Bo-mar style target sights, and forward cocking serrations.

True, but that's functional, Don :)
I also have a Century revolver with the bronze manganese frame that's gold in color.
