View Full Version : What was the average price of decent 5.56x45mm ammunition 12 years ago?
I was late to the 5.56x45mm hobby as I only acquired my 1st AR just over 1 year ago.
It seems that decent ammunition (factory new, non-reloads) runs .25 to .32 per.
What was the price for the same back in 2000, out of pure curiosity?

I got a case of 193 for just under $200 in '04 IIRC.
Yeah, around $3.99/box of 20.

Yep. I still have a dozen or so 500 round cases of Federal XM193 hanging out that I paid about $89-99 bucks for. I also have a couple of 1,000 round cases of WInchester Q3131 that cost me about $200 IIRC. I've even got a case of IMI 5.56 in the bunker that I paid about $200 for.
yes price on 223/5.56 esclated sharply right after we got involved in Afghanistan and more so Iraq. right before leaving for Iraq (2004) I bought a 500 round case of federal for under 100 bucks-that same case of ammo is now around 165.
