Out of what gun? Shooting to what distance? Using what powder?

Springfield TRP 1911. Right now I use Unique. 25 yards.

I would think something like the Sierra 185 gr FPJ Match or maybe the Hornady 185 gr FMJ SWC.

There are a lot of bullets that do a decent job but I would imagine that the far more costly 'Match' bullets will do it better. I used to shoot the Hornady bullet years ago. Not that I was ever a good bullseye shooter...

Good. I'll check those out. I will just be doing it for fun. I am a reloader, so I figured Id load up some of my own for a match, just because I can. Match bullets probably won't do a thing for my skill level, but I may as well try them.

The Nosler bullets are pretty accurate as well.

I have tried a number. Some of my best results were with Zero 200gr lead SWC, Zero 230 gr FMJ round nose, and Berry 230gr plated RN. All using Universal powder.

Any H&G 68 style bullet is what the majority of bullseye shooters use. Another good one is the H&G 130 style. Both- particularly the 68- are readily reproduced by almost all cast bullet manufacturers. Either will serve you well.

For me it has been 200 coated LSWC by Black Bullet Intern. and Bayou Bullets. I certainly will depend on your gun and the load you are using, though.

My most accurate load in all of 45s(except the xd, it wont feed a SWC) is a Missouri Bullet 200gr SWC over 5.6gr of AA#2

Precision Delta's 185gr JHP works well for me but so have Zero 230gr FMJ and JHP. Universal really isn't the powder for .45acp. What sort of loads are you making? Have you tried Clays or WST?

I use either Barrys 230gr plated bullets or 230gr lead bullets. 6gr of unique, federal primers, and mixed headstamps. 1.260 OAL. Great accuracy and total relaibility. Im loading on a Dillon 550.

These are actually not a terrific accuracy bullet. Most bullseye shooters are using a good 185gr-200gr match grade SWC. A good 200gr LWSC can be just as accurate out to 50yds. If cost is not the issue, then the Sierra match or the Hornady XTP, very accurate bullets. The new PD 185gr JHP may be as good, just haven't tried them. The MG 200gr would alos be a good choice.

Wilson Combat match ammo - you pick what is best for your particular pistol.

Good to know. I'll check that out. I have some Hornady 230gr XTPs loaded up. Maybe I'll stick to them. My gun definately likes them.

The bulseye pistol shooters have a preference for the 185 gr. Nosler JHP at 50 yards.

H&G 68 cast slug 200-205 with 4.3g of Bullseye out of a Para 14-45 with some work done on it
