View Full Version : Which grip do you like?
I am slowly fixing up my m4 and wanted to hear from all of you as to what grip ( with a stowage area) you prefer and why?

MOE. Fits my hand like it was made for me.

I like the Hogue grip. It fits my hand well and gives me good solid feel to the grip even when my hand gets sweaty.

Main grip, I assume?
BCM Gunfighter Mod. 1 - it takes the strain off your wrist (steeper grip angle), comfortable, and a decent water-resistant storage door.

Thinking about trying one on my N4, wouldn't be out much if I don't like it.

MOE for me. I dont care much about the storage area so cant speak on it as I have never found much of a need for it. However I like the texture alot. Its rough and has always gave me a good grip but not so rough that its uncomfortable. Also the shape, it feels to me to be just a bit larger than the standard A2. Seems to fit pretty much perfect. If a storage area is a big concern to you, check out the MIAD

I'm a huge fan of the MOE grip, but this^ has me wanting to try out the BCM piece.
During the last clean-up of my beater AR, I had to throw away one of the spare RDS batteries.
It was rusting.

Besides that, it's Bravo Co.
They have yet to disappoint.

Stock A2 grip for me, cash saved on musical grips goes straight to powder, primers and bullets...

Hmm. I've used the A2, MOE, MOE-K, Ergo, and Ergo w/palm shelf. So far the MOE is best for me, though the Ergo w/palm shelf is perfect for my 20" and the MOE-K is perfect for my AR pistol (steeper grip, more like a real pistol). The Ergo came on my LMT lower, and I'm seriously considering changing it out for a BCM since I've never tried one.

Magpul MIAD on my rifle and Ergo with swell on my 9mm AR pistol.

Ergo with palm swell.
Either the A2 or the slim ergo on duty rifles - I prefer the thinner grips when I'm wearing gloves. I have one of those cheesy DPMS target grips on my SPR with the palm shelf chopped off. Decent grip angle for precision work and the swell works for me when I'm shooting with thin or no gloves.

MAID, Moe , and Ergo in that order for SBR's and work carbines, although I like the new grip on the OBR for a rifle primarily fired from a bipod or rest...it just feels right
I hate the A2. It just wears at me when shooting for significant lengths of time. The MIAD is an okay alternative, but the BCM mod1 takes the cake.

Sent from my iPhone... which probably auto-corrected something wrong
Check out the MOE+. It's rubberized and feels great.

MIAD with the big backstrap and slick front. I like the angle on the BCM but it's too small for my paws.

I'm running a Tango Down and like it a lot. It holds 2, CR123s (perfect as i run an EXPS Eotech) in compartments made for batteries, and is waterproof. It does feel a tad too small In my med. size hands though. Seriously thinking of replacing it with the new larger model, BG, IIRC. Ergo is okay too but the Tango IMO fits better.

That's what I went with. I am very happy with it.
I've run an A2 (hate the finger nub), MIAD, MOE, TD BG, and have an Ergo on there right now. The angle is wrong though. I'm interested in the Gunfighter.
I have a Strike Industries Patriot on the way. Gonna try that.
I am gonna try the Magpul MOE-K. Got one on its way from Primary Arms.
I have the Tango Down, regular MOE, and the Hogue..... just gonna rotate them and see what I prefer. My favorite right now is definitely the Tango Down that is currently on my BCM lighweight.....
Too many choices I think, I was looking for a pachmeyer type of feel but it also has to have the compartment on the bottom. My python has a nice feel to it and was hoping to replicate it.

MIAD for a more traditional (but not quite as extreme) grip angle, BCM Mod 1 for a more upright grip.

That is a great link! Thanks for sharing
For me, I have the MOE and like it (then again, I haven't tried anything else).
Should be waiting for me in the mail...

I've tried quite a few pistol grips, and it's going to be different for every person, but I love the Magpul MIAD with the "L" backstrap. Having that much more surface area makes it much easier to handle the carbine with only one hand, especially once weighted down with rails and the front heavy accessories the induce. I do not have huge hands, I where a large golf glove but a thin dude at 5'10, 150lbs-ish.
I've also owned/own and tried the MIAD in all other configurations, the MOE+ which I like almost as much, ErgoGrip, Houge and A2, all of which were too small.
I like it. Excellent grip angle. Super light weight. No storage rattle BS.

I've been running an MOE for a good while and love it. Will probably go with that same grip again for the two builds I am working on right now.

Same for me. It's just comfortable.

I see no need for storage in it or any other grip. If you do though...

I tried the Ergo and while I preferred the feel/texture of it compared to the A2, it just felt too small (if I had opted for the palm-swell version, it may have worked for me). But IMO, the largest setup of the MIAD just feels "right", especially concerning what Disregarded9-side stated about one-handed control of the rifle.
Of course, it all boils down to personal preference which can only be determined by actually trying out different options for yourself.
ETA- I forgot add, my only real complaint I have with the MIAD/MOE is that you can't choose which storage insert comes standard (I think it's a 3 round insert that comes with it, which seems like a silly/least desired option to me), meaning if you want one of the different battery or spare bolt/firing pin cores, you have to spend more cash to get your preferred setup.

Safety?
Overall that is very similar to mine. I just have a different rail and light, and my pmags with ranger plates are 30 rounds. (ranger plates not pictured)

+1 on the MOE and MIAD. I use the MOE and I haven't had a single problem with it. Fits my hand perfect, even with a pair of gloves on.
when I first put the Magpul MOE grip on, I loved it.
Well, I was missing out. I recently got a MIAD in and put in the front panel with the bump and the medium back panel. It was awesome.
But I was wrong. Last night, I put the large grip on and that is what I will be switching all my rifles over to. It just felt perfect to me.
But everyone's hand is different. Get what definitely fits you best. You're the one that's going to be shooting it.
