View Full Version : Prayer Request, Having Spine Surgery On Wednesday

I don't normally ask for things like this but I figured it could only help.

I am undergoing spinal surgery on Wednesday for an intra-spinal cord tumor so they can biopsy it and move forward with a treatment plan. I'm 29, otherwise healthy and strong, and will kick this tumor's butt with the help of my doctors, I believe there is no other outcome.

I'm asking for my brothers and sisters of GT to say prayers, positive thoughts, and anything else benifitial for my health and recovery. I thank you all in advance.

Not to worry,It will be ok, I had my whole Cervical spine rebuilt.
Yes,the whole damb thing. It consists of 7 vertabra from the base of the skull to about the shoulder blades.
They said it was serious and high risk,a-quad or death.

I have 12 new titainium scews, seven plates to replace the missing bone and I am sitting here typing to you.Hmmm?

I will however pray for you but I think you are in good hands
plus you are young and strong.Go with the flow and relax with a good atitude and I'm sure you will be ok.

PS: I do have funny side effects though, when ever it thunder-storms,I get an errection and point north,Hmmm?

Good luck and stay positive friend and I shall pray !

good wishes sent your way, how did you find out you had this tumor??? If you don't mind my asking, I'm sure youll come out fine. A guy I work with had a tumor removed from his spine a few years ago, he acts no different now than he did before the surgery.

Enjoy the the Supernatural Healing and Favor that is headed your way...

Why couldn't it be that the Doctors show up to perform the Biopsy and discover the mass is gone completely?

Miracles happen every day - Hope tomorrow is your miracle day, and you end up astounding and confounding the Doctors.

God Bless,

Prayers in-coming. I had cancer surgery and radiation treatments when I was 25, 40 years ago and 20 years later, spinal surgery. You'll be fine. Youth is on your side (and you have the sense to ask for prayers). Never give up, never give in. FIGHT! This is only one small, finite experience in your life. It will pass. Do not get stuck in it. Get through it and move on. Best, Joe

Thanks guys. Just got an update from the surgeon, the radio-oncologist confirmed there are no other tumors in my body, so thankfully there is only the one and it has not spread anywhere else.

I had the exact same surgery 2 years ago at 25. Recovery was actually better than I expected. Feel free to PM me with questions.

Awesome! Are you sure it's malignant? I may have just missed it earlier in the thread... Regardless, you've got my prayers. I am terrified of being knocked out (I am afraid of not being down long enough or deep enough) and I'm "looking forward" to it later this month for something minor, especially compared to what you are facing! Let us know ASAP when you're out.

Mrs. Kitty, won't know if it is benign or not until after biopsy.

Mace, I will shoot you a pm in the morning, I'm very interested in talking to you.

Thank you all for your support! Getting discharged today! Woo Hoo! Had a rough day or two where my stomach was really distended causing more pain than the surgery site but got that all worked out and woken back up. Walked around a bunch yesterday and today. Got the cath removed today and passed fluid within two hours on my own.

Again thank you everyone for your support i really appreciate it! Also will continue with updates when the biopsy comes back and the treatment plan.

Neurosurgeon check up on Tuesday, said I'm healing very well.

Oncologist appointment Wednesday, I have a grade 2 astrocytoma, will be doing 5 days a week for 5-6 weeks of radiation treatment, will start treatment 4-6 weeks from surgery date to let everything heal up. Thankfully U of Miami has a treatment center 10 minutes from my house and in the same office complex as my fiance's business. So now it's a CT scan for treatment planning and sperm bank as insurance. Will let you know when I start treatment.

Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts!
