So all hell just broke loose. You have selected your long gun, but you really only really want to carry one handgun. Of your Glocks, which one would you take? Keep in mind your handgun is just a backup.

My choice, G19. Compact, light, good capacity. Rather save room and weight for AR mags.

I'd prolly pick a 9mm due to it being so readily available. G19 and a few happy sticks loaded with some NATO should get the job done.

G19 or G17:wavey:

Glock 19, no question. When the zombies come you want plenty of 33 round mags loaded and ready to go.

You could not go wrong with a G21 either, but the ammo is heavy and you have limited magazine capacity.

G23. 40 is just as readily available in my area as 9. Plus its what the local cops are carrying. And most importantly, its what I carry everyday and practice the most with.

G20 on my hip and a G19 in my bob.

Glock 19 + Mini 14 = No spare parts needed.

Only one(!!!) Glock? Definitely the G19 on the hip.

However, for that real SHTF situation, I also have a G26 with a laynard hole drilled a la G19/G17. This way, I can tie a paracord around the G26 (keep the trigger covered with a Glock Sports Holster) and hang it around the neck. Little excess weight, no fear of loss.

Already made that choice - G17.

17 for me. My long gun takes the same mags so I'm set.

17C. Definitely my 9mm even though I have a preference (because of caliber) for my 23C.

probably my G19

Well, in a SHTF situation, I would throw my G24 on my hip and my G23 in a backpack. If I have to choose only one it would be my G23. I would keep it running in 357 sig until I ran out of ammo, then switch the barrel out to the Glock OEM .40 barrel.

The one with the most ammo. G17.

G35 w/ a conversion (to 9mm) and OEM barrel. Ideally, ammo availability shouldn't be a concern that way.

My G21sf on my hip, and my G36 in my cargo pants pocket. If I'm wearing a combat vest I may have my G26 in a cross draw position. I agree that 9mm is everywhere, but 45.ACP is also out their. My long gun is an AR15 in .223/5.56.

I recently got a G17 that was a LEO turn in. I read that Travis Haley in a recent interview discussed his EDC was a G17 that had the grip cut down to take G19 mags. I decided that this was probably the best option for a SHTF situation since I own multiple G19's. So...I sent mine off to have the modification done as well as a grip reduction.

Without a doubt, the Glock 21SF.

I'm an unabashed G19 fan.
I have a couple 33 rounders, just in case... :pirates:

I have a good 45, but am jonesing for a Gen4 G21 for some reason.

What's the point of even having the 17 in first place then? A little longer barrel? Be cheaper to just carry a 19 if you want to use 19 mags

For me the longer sight radius of the G17 is a plus over the G19. I was looking to build a Race Glock out of a G19 when I got a sweet deal on the G17. Having a stock of G19 mags is a plus also for the conversion.

I think you would want something you could conceal. There would be a lot of situations where being able to conceal a handgun would be a lot more important than pure firepower. I'm not a big fan of the idea of trying to put together a one list fits all situations. I think taking a few minutes to consider what special needs might exist in reality rather than what you thought it would be. Katrina for example would be a situation where a G26 IWB was a better fit than a G17 in a drop leg

G19 just for the fact 9mm ammo is readily available and it can use G19, G17 or 33 round mags. Truth be told, I am grabbing quite a few more than one pistol because most of them are already in my go bag.

Glock 19 is a great choice. In many situations a handgun will be a primary firearm since a long gun will be too cumbersome to carry while doing a variety of tasks. At times the handgun will have to do until you can get to an appropriate long gun.

Ah gotcha. Saw them popping up all over and never understood why people were doing it.

G23 with a 9mm barrel to throw in after I'm out of .40....

Right now I'd pick my G19, but that's only because I have more 9mm ammo around than anything else at the moment. I'd feel comfortable with any glock.

All things being equal, I'd probably go for a 45 acp or a 9mm. Depends on if I was in the mood to carry something a little lighter, or something with a little more oomph behind it.

I love these threads...
Take where?
How far?
Am I walking or driving the 4x4?
Am I carrying my ammo or hoping to pick some up along the way (to wherever I'm going)?

First of all, whoever said that 9mm will be everywhere hasn't read one of these threads. As popular as 9mm is you would have to find a store that hasn't had anyone there yet because if anyone has beat you there they probably have a 9mm, and if they do, it will all be gone.
If I'm walking G29, there's a better chance of finding 10mm on the shelf than 9mm because of how rare the round is.
If I'm driving I'll take the G21 because I have a lot of rounds stocked up for it.
But in reality, I'll keep them all, because I'm not going anywhere, I'll stay here.

I take these two. Long gun is a Colt LE6920 with sling, light and red dot. Handgun is a Glock 26 with night sites. Could also be my G19 though.
