I'm wanting to make a "dish".

My ideas are venison, stewed tomatoes, garlic, cumin, celery salt, beef stock, & fresh green beans. Gonna make it kinda thick; not too watery.

I plan on letting it cook for a long time, however, I don't want the beans to turn to mush.

Anyone got any ideas; setting will be "low" outta "keep warm", "low", "high".

I'm planning about 8 hours cook time.

I guess I'll add the beans about 1/2 way through.

yep. I usually put mine on the stove for 2-3 hours.

Depends on how you like them. If you want them at all firm, put them in with an hour left. Low is 190-200* almost boiling. Spices go in at the same time, otherwise you will cook the flavor out. Start your food on high to get it up to 140* as quick as possible, then turn it down.

I like them in Hunters stew and that's about 4 hours.

Mine went for about 9 hours total; veggies went for about 7 hours in the pot. I also added okra into that concoction.

Yeilded 8 Glad containers full of food. I just tried some, and all I had to add was some Frank's and salt.

295 calories, 32g protien, 28g carbs if I figured it pretty much correctly.

If you leave them out on the counter for more than 17.2 seconds you have to throw them away or else you'll get food poisoning and die from plague.

It's true, I read it on GT.

You are pretty close (almost exact) to an old comfort food of mine. Actually two dishes...one is with cubes of beef, the other is with cube steak.

Little olive oil in skillet, garlic add beef or cube steak with salt and pepper high heat and sear.

Once seared add a can of stewed tomatoes over top, a little Worcester sauce and cover with fresh green beans.

Put cover on pan and reduce to low heat.

The acids in the tomatoes will break down the beef and the steam will cook the beans.

When the beans are done, serve with mashed taters.

Simple and delicious.

In the South we like our green beans well done. I developed a taste for GBs which had been warmed over several times with potatoes and fatback. Otherwise they was raw.
