Huh? A breacher on a shotgun and .223 ammo?

Please vote! It's that important!

But I bet they sell much more high powered hunting calibers with no issue, as long as it isn't that evil .223...

Don't let them find out about the 7.62x39 sold in stores, then they will know the commies have arrived.

Of course nothing in the cities "written agreement" with that Walmart store is going to stop people from driving to the next city/county and buying those scary tactical weapons and evil .223 ammunition...

lets just all start painting our black rifles and shotguns bright and vibrant colors. Then they wont look as evil and "tactical".

And here all along I thought the military used 5.56x45 ammo.

What a bunch of idiocy. (And yeah, I know, it's nothing new from those who fear firearms irrationally.)

I wish the Walmarts in my area sold half of the things they mentioned in that article. We only have knives and a piss poor selection of ammunition.

That said, if Walmart did get their foot in the door by agreeing to some unfair and restrictive limitations on what they can sell, they should have to honor that agreement.

Ignoring that this is about guns, I know multiple Walmarts built in nicer areas here that were bullied into agreements that limited the parking lot lights (so neighbors wouldn't be blasted with high intensity light all night). If Walmart can ignore agreements on what they sell, they can ignore agreements on parking lot lights, and that is not right.

High powered ammunition? I guess it's a good thing 30-30 or 30-06 is such a low powered ammo. Sarcasm off.

I thought Indiana was such a pro gun state?

Re: OP. So what. WM made an agreement. The city has every right to hold them to it. The city sets the rules through elected representatives. If WM doesn't like it, let them go elsewhere. No business small or large gets to name the tune and expect that the city/country dance to it. The voters elect their representatives and decisions are made about the tune. WM like other businesses then get to dance the jig that is called. That's the way it is. That's the way it should be.

Really depends on how they define tactical. If it isn't spelled out, it's really not enforceable.

After reading the comments of the councilman, I don't have much faith in the people of IN.

South Bend is awfully close to Chicago, I wonder if some of the garbage overflowed into South Bend?

What purpose does it serve for you to suck the life out of a perfectly good rant with rational thought processes? :tongueout:

the city's requirements for selling firearms.

Must suck to live in South Bend, IN. I'm guessing it's full of either rich liberals or college faculty.

The Common Council. Sounds like something out of the old Soviet Union.

Yeah, that set off my socialist radar, too. Anything "common" or "people's" is bound to get ugly, soon.

Sure sounds like it... This is what Wal Mart gets for making a deal w/ the council. They should have just complied with state laws like they are required, and told the city of South Bend to get bent.

Trust me, South Bend.. it's a hippie liberal college town. Every state has one, South Bend and Bloomington are ours.

I would think that if there has been at least one election since the agreement was signed where someone lost a seat on the council, or a new manager has taken over the store, that the agreement would be void.

It's not like the agreement is a peace treaty between the 'great white father' and the Cherokee. :whistling:

They signed the agreement so they are bound to it. I'm betting the reason they just couldn't follow the state law was they needed to get local permits to build the place. In exchange for allowing them to build they wanted these restrictions.

However the .223 comment is crazy. It's not a high powered round by any stretch. Most hunting calibers are more powerful. But the quote of it will go through walls and windows from the moron councilman pretty much shows the thinking of the town.

Yeah same thing in "gun friendly"
NC. Triangle area, nope. Wilmington area, no way. It sux.

That's odd. I'm about 60 miles from Wilmington and we have four different brands of AR's to choose from. Ammo selection varies by store. At mine you can buy an AR but good luck finding ammo to shoot out of it.

I liked the part where a person offered $50 to a couple of kids if they would steal ammo from Wal-Mart. Every Wal-Mart I've ever been to has their ammo locked up, so how is it possible to steal it short of a smash-n-grab?

This is a hot topic in the Indiana forum (INGO)I'm a member of. The news coverage was laughable. At least ABC 57 actually went to the Wal Mart. The other tv news people just reported on what the council said.

I live right next to South Bend. It is run by the Democratic machine, just like Chicago. Indiana as a preemption law when it comes to guns and the politicians from there were shrill in their criticism of it. The city even put a temporary court room (a gun free zone) in one of their city buildings so no one can carry in the building. There are some areas of South Bend that no outsiders should ever drive through after dark.

Yeah, try 60 miles east of there.
But seriously, you are in the twilight zone then. I know Wilmington does not, and non of the triangle stores do. I will bet Buncombe Co. Doesn't either.

Every Walmart I know has .300 Winchester Magnum ammo. We're talking 1000+-yard military sniper ammo here, folks.

And yet, no military in the world uses ".223 Remington." Nice.

That said, a wood-stocked, 3-shot, plain-barrel Remington 870 Wingmaster shotgun is the perfect tactical weapon when the situation is a pair of ducks coming in for a landing. Tactical, indeed.

I'm betting that some Walmart lawyer is about the hand the South Bend city council it's ass in a big manilla envelope.

Nothing in the article indicates that there is a violation of any agreement. 5.56 TAP, m855, m193, and possibly other 5.56 ammo may be "tactical" ammo, but .223 ammo is varmint and target ammo.

what shotgun comes with a breacher? Heck I'm not even sure I've ever seen a beacher. I have a hard time that walmart would sell somthing so specialized.

"A 223 round can shoot through a bulletproof vest. So, we are concerned about our police officers' safety and anybody else, because if it can go through a vest, it can go through windows, walls or anything else," said Scott.
Ok, but does it "shoot through schools"?
