Even if you think force-by-democracy is a good thing, one thing that is absolutely clear is that deficit spending is literally "taxation without representation." I.E. the people who are expected to pay heavy taxes over their entire their lives to pay for ~40% of today's government and yesterday's vote-buying schemes never had any chance whatsoever to vote on it.

The government has simply lost it's moral legitimacy, any way you slice it.
