I have a couple older colts, but wanted another 1911. As bac has stated, all the new colts i looked at were fit with loose slides.
So i looked at a couple of dan wesson's at my local shop.
They were both really nice! Slides and barrel's were tight.
Beautiful guns. What stopped me? Two things

I just really didn't want stainless, and i read many of you here saying that the dan wesson is just not quite the gun as your les baer's.

So i found a guy out west that has them in stock and ordered a premier 2 without the front cocking serations. Should have it later this week. Never handled or even saw one before!

I hope it's killer! Any insight by anyone on the premier 2 would be appreciated Garander

Don't be surprised if you can't pull the slide back to lock it open. They lock-up so tight you will probably have to bump the muzzle of the barrel to get it to unlock. Years ago Baer recommended about 200 rounds to loosen it up a bit.

I have an '03 Concept 7. (Commander size) It's still tighter than most new production guns I see in shops.

Congrats! I think the Les Baer Premier II probably represents the best value in target 1911s available today.

Wow! You guys sure think very highly of that pistol.

For one reason or another my local shop wont email their ffl to the vendor. They insist on u.s. mail and didn't even mail it as of today. Oh well. The wait is on! Garander

I got my Premier 11 1.5" July 2011 broke her in with 200 rds. of AE 230gr. Adding oil to rails every 50 rds.
10,700 failure free rds.! To date . Changed recoil spring every 2000 rds.
Still tight and crazy accurate. Your gonna love it. Visit 1911 forum for more info on your new pride n joy......

The les baer showed up today. Could not be happier!
Tight as can be. Could barely open the action. 100 rounds without a glitch. Trigger is excellent with no creep. The feel is unbelievable. I used my handload of 5.2 grains of 231 with a 230 gr hardball. I shot this 24 shot group standing at 20 yards. It can only get better frome here. garander
