I'm looking to buy a Gen 4 G17 but my dealer has to order it so, I'll be buying sight unseen. What worries me is the larger mag release button.

Does the larger mag release button bite into your finger/hand if you shoot it from the side where it sticks out?

I've had no issues with my Gen 4 19 'biting' me, and prefer the larger release to the Gen 3 style. It isn't obstructive and offers more surface area for an easier release. Buy with confidence!

To answer your question directly No. You can move it to the other side on Gen4s if for some reason it does.

I've had no problems of the sort with my Gen 4's.

I love that big ol' mag release, in fact!

It's really not that big. And if your thumbs are hitting the mag release on any pistol, you're gripping it wrong.

The mag release is one of the big improvements over the gen3. Glock got that part right.

Actually it's not tall enough for my needs. A large frame G-20or G-21 part would be nice or the Vickers extended unit might be even better if you need extra height.

It's not an issue at all.

I concur with all of the above.

No have had no problems with Gen4 magazine release bitting thumb or any part of my hand when firing. Much prefer it over the other one. I don't have to shift my hand to engage it.

I love it on my Gen 4 G21. I can't quite reach the mag release on my friend's 21SF without shifting my grip on the gun. With the gen4 I don't have to reposition anything.

Larger mag release is what swayed me towards a gen 4. No complaints about it.

I got an aftermarket release for my G19, but it's WAY longer and more out there than the stock Gen4 on my 17. I don't notice it, but a lefty shot the gun and hated it. I don't think they would've minded the Gen4 one.

Any lefties shooting a Gen4 that can weigh in?

The mag release is my favorite part of the gen 4.

i have experienced no biting issues with my gen 4 mag release. I actually prefer the gen 4 size as it is easier for me to manipulate.

The mag release on my Gen 4 G23 rules! I love it.

Bigger surface but it doesn't catch on things (for example, holsters) like the old extended release.

Have Gen 4 22 an 27 Mag release works well easy and comfortable
