http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/10/11/990281/romney-uninsured-hospital/

Mitt Romney doubled down on his suggestion that uninsured Americans can find the care they need in emergency rooms, telling The Dispatch that people will always receive the treatment they need, and do not die or suffer (http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2012/10/11/health-care-called-choice.html) because they can not pay for care. He pointed to federal law that requires hospitals to admit emergency patients, repeating his advice that patients rely on the most expensive form of care (http://thinkprogress.org/health/2012/09/24/895861/mitt-romney-emergency-room/) reserved strictly for emergencies. Romney told the Columbus Dispatch: “We don’t have a setting across this country where if you don’t have insurance, we just say to you, ‘Tough luck, you’re going to die when you have your heart attack,’  ” he said as he offered more hints as to what he would put in place of “Obamacare,” which he has pledged to repeal.
“No, you go to the hospital, you get treated, you get care, and it’s paid for, either by charity, the government or by the hospital. We don’t have people that become ill, who die in their apartment because they don’t have insurance.”
He pointed out that federal law requires hospitals to treat those without health insurance — although hospital officials frequently say that drives up health-care costs.

Wait until Obamacare death panels get to deny treatment.

That is a bunch of BS, back in the late seventies and early eighties I had a friend(no health Ins) that moved to ATL and had his appendix burst while laying on his couch in is apartment. He went to one of the area Hospitals emergency rooms and he was pushed aside and had to wait for a couple of hours in pain I might add. They eventually sent him back home without treatment. He almost died but he eventually made it back to the hospital for emergency surgery and lived but really was never the same. He gained a lot of weight and looked bloated. He eventually sued the hospital and won a settlement. I am almost sure that the result of the ruptured appendix that poisoned his system had effect on his early death(48 years old).

My wife works at the hospital and say Romney is right, but what does she know? She isn't an internet liberal troll:dunno:

It's not just ER's that accept people with no insurance. We have a Catholic hospital that offers reduced rates for them for doctor appointments, a secular hospital with a freestanding clinic with doctors that cater exclusively to them, a city-run free clinic, and a small Christian clinic downtown.

Yep. I can only guess Flintlocker grew up some suburb and has no experience with this kind of thing. Those of us who grew up among and around the poor know Romney is dead right.

I'll say again - nobody could have as perfect a record of failing with each thread he starts as Flintlocker. I think he is a conservative faking it to make liberals look foolish.

Flintlocker, you're grasping on to straws. Romney sucks on so many levels, but it seems what you just quoted him on, he actually makes sense.

If you're going to tear up Romney, bring up how the Ryan budget is just as imbalanced as the Obama budget. Now of course, that'd be clowning on your homie Obama, but you gotta do what you gotta do to point out why and how America is really being destroyed. Both of them are horrible choices.

80% of you guys on here (including GS shark and flintlocker) make me think if you were offered heroin or cocaine, you'd be thinking to yourselves "Well, which one is the lesser of 2 evils, I need to ingest one!"

What part of that isn't true?

Now explain to us how Obamacase isn't going to reduce the quality of healthcare for almost everyone.

That's a good analogy, if - as with the election - you will be ingesting one of the 2 no matter what you decide. In that case, you'd better decide which is the lesser of the 2 evils and make the choice. (it's cocaine, by the way).

Thanks, I get my analogies from you guys.

I think my favorite analogy from you is when I advocate less gov't intervention in someone's life, and you compare me to a big gov't liberal.

Not to mention, the fact that the guy was able to sue the hospital and win very clearly disproves the point that Bigpoppie50 seemed to be trying to make.

:rofl:Third parties have an will continue to flip the outcome of elections.

So they matter.

Without the Green Party, Al Gore would've been President during 9/11.

They might affect someone elses candidate, but they never get one of their own in, they are just voting for their favorite without taking the responsibility.

2 evils?
.....Most Americans want a better economy...stronger Military....more jobs.... and **hate socialism/Liberalism/Muslim tolerance (appeasement)....

The choice is easy.....For Americans...Go Romney!

BFDSo it matters to a whole lot of people: The candidate who lost, everybody who voted for him, and the party he represents.

Saying they can't get elected is very different from saying they don't matter.

You might find that, among those who would rather do neither, not everybody is choosing the same lesser of two evils.

Which one would be right for you would depend on your physiology. If you have a bad heart for instance, you really don't want to be taking cocaine. Most cocaine deaths are from heart attacks. But, if you have digestive problems, heroin will constipate you and make them worse.

If you are middle class, work your ass off, and hope to save some money and live better, you want Romney.

If you are on welfare, and would just be happy to get a little bit more, and really don't give a crap who has to pay for it, the Obama is the right choice for you.

If you are really rich, it doesn't matter, you will be taken care of no matter who gets elected.

Just admit it you want Obamamoa to win! You'd be better sitting at home and not voting at all! Your protest vote achieves -ZERO. It's like voting "Present" when your vote decides if the country will survive or not!

Come to Grand Rapids and I will put a white coat on you and take you to the hospitals and show you the homeless that show up during a snowstorm complaining of vague GI pains so they get admitted for a few days of tests.

Come and talk to the social workers that fill out the Medicaid applications AFTER the hospital treated people as the patient is just too dang lazy to fill it out himself (or never learned to read)

Come and see entire clinics, floors, and buildings devoted to caring for the poor, the minorities, and the illegal Mexicans. Then we can go and visit the food pantries where evil rich white people voluntarily give food to poor minorities.

Just make sure you ignore the fact that the free clinics are all funded by the Catholic hospital and the food pantry donors are all devout Christians who feel God has more then blessed them and they have plenty to share.
