Former Solicitor General Ted Olson has been tapped to play the role of Vice President Biden in debate preperations for GOP vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan (http://www.foxnews.com/topics/us/rep.-paul-ryan.htm#r_src=ramp)

A Ryan spokesman confirmed Saturday that Olson has already participated in one practice session this past week.

As some of the comments in the article already say, I think this may be a case of over-preparing for your expected opponent... maybe Big Bird would have been a more appropriate Joe Biden simulator...

Don't underestimate Biden. If he doesn't have a gaffe, he can deliver very good speeches that appeal to the common man. He's no lightweight on foreign policy either, though he won't have much to defend this time around.

I like Biden. He's innocently entertaining. He'd be a great MC at a gathering, like a Sat. Night Life graduate.

Biden is not to be underestimated.

He will have a number of topical talking points/boilerplate schticks memorized and he will try to spin any question in some way to fit those.

He will probably perform well, if he can pull this off, on the stock, predictable questions. It is any that come from left field where he has to answer without a net that may catch him.
