I'm new to the AR15 platform having purchased a Bushmaster Patrolman. I was wondering about using Wolf ammunition in it. I was told by someone that it can/would harm my chrome barrel land/or chamber. Can anyone shed some light on this question please. I really only plan to use it for some range time to get familiar with the weapon and to break it in. Thanks.

Buy a few boxes, if your Bushy will shoot it without problems, buy more.
It's not going to hurt your rifle.

Thanks for the advice and I will give it a try. Thanks again.

Also look into ordering ammo on-line. You should be able to buy good ammo like brass cased M193 at a decent price.

If your gun will shoot it it's fine. It won't hurt your gun. Some AR's like it and some don't. It's dirty, underpowered, and not very accurate. But it's a cheap to put a lot of rounds down range. Also be aware that if you try to shoot brass after shooting Wolf you have a good chance of getting a case stuck.

It won't hurt your AR at all. Running steel and brass simultaneously won't cause an issue either. I do it all the time. I've done it at ranges for people to prove a point and during classes in my ARs and M&P9.

I have run steel case in my ARs with no problems. Just make sure to clean the chamber correctly, with a chamber brush after shooting it.

I've had a couple cases stuck in the chamber shooting steel case, but only when the barrel was VERY hot after multiple mag dumps in a row. Just bring a cleaning rod in case to knock it out.

Factory AR? Who's barrel?

Factory AR? Who's barrel?

The particular rifle the I've had a couple cases stuck in the chamber had a CMMG M4 LE upper, to answer your question. Issue only happened twice in hundreds of rounds.

What do you think the problem could be?

The steel case doesn't expand as much, and allows fouling/powder residue to enter between the case wall and chamber wall. Since the steel cases don't expand enough to get stuck to the fouling, they continue to run just fine, but let the fouling build. Brass case fired after this fouling has built up can stick to the fouling, causing the case to hang in the chamber.

I have also had more case mouth failures with steel case than with brass. Saw 2 from the same case of Wolf ammo, on the same day. Both resulted in stuck cases.
