View Full Version : Another Uneeded Caution Sign.
My most recent sighting , and entry in the "Do people really need this warning?" contest.
At the pumpkin rack of a grocery store:
WARNING! Pumpkins are heavy, and may roll away unexpectedly!
I kid you not!:whistling::rofl: Cheers.

Sadly, yes, there are entirely too many people who DO need that warning.

But if we removed that warning the problem might take care of itself. Just saying...:whistling:
They're there for somebody....

This!!!!!
Every stupid warning sign you see is there because someone did it as a result of their own stupidity, ignorance and negligence, filed a frivolous lawsuit for millions and won.
There. All fixed.

The sign on the toilet brush says it best: "Do not use for personal hygiene."
I'd like to see the dumb ass that filed that lawsuit.

I remember one on a lawn mower that said:
Do not use this mower as to trim hedges. . . :faint:

I bought a plastic storage container one time and inside the lid was a picture of a child sitting inside the container with the standard red circle and line through symbol. IMHO anybody who needs to be reminded that you shouldn't store your kids in these plastic containers has no business being a parent in the first place.
ETA: Here is a link to that sign

Some of you may remember CJLandry around these parts.
He always said that stupid is supposed to be fatal. We spend a ton of time, money and engineering trying to make stupid not fatal... but every once in a while the sun shines through the clouds and stupid does what it's supposed to do.

My personal favorite was a warning sticker on a lawnmower I bought several years back. It said "Do not attempt to use this mower to trim hedges or trees."
And of course that label wouldn't be there unless some true genius had actually picked up a running lawnmower and tried to trim his hedges with it!

And then there are the poorly translated warning labels. There's a knife from Korea with the warning "Warning, keep knife out of children." xD

OK... number one - why would you stop an idiot from removing him / herself from the gene pool.
Also - why aren't you at your post?
Number One - It's reverse psychology, it's so all the morons can dare their buddy to try it when they're drunk.
Number Two - *puts on the whiniest voice he can* But I have to go save the princess!!!!

Sometimes you have to put a sign just to see if they noticed.

That one goes back to the 70's. 2 geniuses figured they could just carry the running mower along the top of the hedge. One tripped, both lost multiple fingers. They filed suit, against Sears I think. They claimed there was no warning against it as negligence.

Idiots probably ruined the hedge.
Where's the warning about leaving a cantaloupe in the microwave for more than three minutes and ten seconds?:steamed:

When I was in law school, over a decade ago, one of my learned professors told me that, no matter how outlandish, each warning notice was put there because someone, somewhere, had done it and sued over the consequences.
Now that I deal with the public on a daily basis, I have come to realize that he was being serious.

I don't know about that but I know of one who tried to pick up a running lawnmower and carry it up a set of steps (apparently he took it down there to get it started and was afraid it would not start again if he shut it off).
He was okay until he braced it between his belly and the wall and tried to open the basement door.
He lived but was removed from the gene pool.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head!
Since we’ve started to add all those warning labels, we ended up with the Obama as ruler. We need to get rid of those warning labels, the future of our country is at stake!

Thank you all for the both amusing and sad commentaries on modern American life. ***CAUTION!!!! SITTING IN THAT CHAIR FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME CAN BE BAD FOR YOUR BACK!!! *** Cheers.

Did you know you can trim hedges with a riding mower? Just use a crane.
