I just bought a CPO 2009 Audi A4 S-line Cabrio last week and I am loving this car. I know there are other Audi owners on the board. How has your car been treating you?

I have a 2012 A6 3.0T quattro Premium Plus with 19" sports package. It has 11,500 miles on it and has been perfect so far. It is my 3rd Audi, I had 2 previous A4's, but didn't keep either of them very long. I had a 2010 A4 Premium FWD that I hated because of the CVT, and I leased a 2011 A4 quattro Premium Plus that was a great car, but I turned it in for my current A6. Enjoy your new Audi, they are fun cars.

Well, my wife's skirt does tend to slide up when she's in the A4, so maybe there is a problem with the wind currents.

I'll have to look into it and see if warranty covers it. Ahhh, maybe not.

The Exige and Elise cost a lot more than a Miata, and people over 5'10 and 200lbs cannot fit in them.

My 2009 A4 that I bought as a CPO in August is at just shy of 23k miles now, about 2k more than when I bought it. So, I don't really have a longterm perspective to report just yet. But ... it's a blast to drive, there isn't a squeak or creak to be heard no matter what you drive over, it gets fantastic highway mileage, and it goes up the road like poop through a goose (I've got the relatively uncommon 3.2 V6, which Car & Driver clocked 0 to 60 in 5.7secs. I'll take their word for it.)

That's pretty awesome then. I've never even ridden in a car that nice, let alone be able to drive it everyday.

Could one of the Audi fans answer a question for me: why is it that I see A class Audis driving that have the little S emblem in the grill and side of the car, but it is still badged as an A4 for example? Is there like a half-way package that gets you some S emblems, but not the one on the rear? And I don't think these are rebadged cars either. Thanks!

I just built an Audi R8 using the Audi Configurator and came up $164,950 for one I'd drive. That's a lot of economic opportunity loss on a depreciating asset and $82,000 more than I spent for my last car.

Once you are spending more than $50,000 or so on a car, it is about getting what you want, economics have little to do with it.

S line is a package you can get for your A4.

Body kit, lowered suspension, nice wheels, etc.

Where did you study economics?

In six years, $164,950 placed in an Audi R8 will return slightly North of $80,000 (doing a linear regression at their current depreciation rate). $164,950 invested at the 7.75% I have returned across my portfolio for the last 5 years will be $258,140.

People who buy R8's aren't factoring economics into it at all, because they have a lot of other money to invest in things with a return. Cars are rarely a sound investment, and when the cost over $50,000 they tend to be emotional purchases.

How's that portfolio ride, 0-60 numbers pretty good, what's it top out at? :tongueout:

You just admitted you spent 80k on a vehicle, if you really didn't care about what you drove you'd buy a stripped out Camry and invest the other 60k in your portfolio.

And I keep a my slow Japanese one around for something reliable to use in the snow.

And to keep this slightly on topic, I managed to run into an R8 before they were released back in early 07, got a few pics, but the guy didn't like us taking them. Got in front and sprayed us with wiper fluid on I-70.

My orthopod has an R8, nice but doesn't set my blood on fire. If I momentarily lost possession of all reason and felt it necessary to spend a buck sixty on a car, I'd buy a Porsche 911 Turbo S.

Believe it or not I saw the first one in WI(that I've seen anyways) a couple weeks ago just outside of Madison.

Nice toys are expensive. I dropped $7000 into mine in the last year. Oh well.

I love the car, it has 165,000 miles on it, it's fast as hell, I pave the way for the trucks in the snow, and she has never given me any headaches other than normal maintenance.

Btw Audi warranty covered ALL work until 100,000 miles. I bought the extended warranty when I purchased the car. Best extra $2000 I ever spent.

See. I am cheap. Well I dont like spending money doing things I can do myself. I refused to pay the dealer cost for an oil change. It seemed I had to take half the car apart to do it, but I saved a lot of money. Well, the first time I didnt. But pulling in the Service bay is a car I would like (not expensive...just a sweet ride that isnt seen often)...a Porsche 968.

Too bad they're owned by the Volkswagen Group which is based out of Wolfsburg. But yes, I'm sure they have a few parts that don't come from the VAG parts bin that are still Bavarian designed. The V10 R8 is using a Lambo engine after all.

Most of these cars come with a maintenance package for 4yrs or something like that. If you keep the car that long.

IMO if you really cared about your vehicle, you'd still be taking it in and paying for mid-point oil changes or doing them yourself. I don't like mine going 15k miles without one.

Now moving on from vw/audi to subies

It's not showing, was it a GTI?

IMO if you really cared about your vehicle, you'd still be taking it in and paying for mid-point oil changes or doing them yourself. I don't like mine going 15k miles without one.

I'll most likely trade it in for something else, well before I put 30-45K mi on anything. So what's the point? Service records are what matters for the trade.

Damn... When was the last time you replaced it? I think they're supposed to be at 75k

Not the belt, the chain. Belt was done 40,000 miles ago with OEM factory kit.

Well, my wife's skirt does tend to slide up when she's in the A4, so maybe there is a problem with the wind currents.

I'll have to look into it and see if warranty covers it. Ahhh, maybe not.

Sometimes that can be caused by a zealous husband.

Maybe not a bad thing.

I'd be less worried with an NA vehicle then one with a turbo, but I trade mine in before they go out of warranty as well. For my piece of mind and knowing that I didn't trade in a vehicle that wasn't well taken care of, I don't go 15k between oil changes and longer between major services.

I "expressed" my dissatisfaction to Audi via twitter yesterday and they called me today and said they were going to deal with it for me. Whatever that means.

Let's see what happens....

For the record, 3 of my 4 Audis died this same way. I suspect that's why they are going to help.

I'd think that after having 3 of em do that, you'd have learned your lesson:)

Nice VW's everybody! :whistling:

Just messing with y'all.

I'll stick with my F-350. Getting to old for rides as nice as the ones posted.

Love them they were on my list till I found out some simple repair costs for them...pretty sad when you can easily afford to purchase the car but cant afford its upkeep cause they are just so stupidly priced for maintenance/repairs. So off the list it came lol...I was looking at a S4

There's no lesson other than driving the car gets my pants warm, that's why I go back for more!!

Drive an Audi real fast on a twisty mountain road and you're hooked.

Tell me about it when you have to start making repairs. Liking something you have had for a week is easy.

Exactly, I didn't pay a penny until after 100K miles.

My car was high millage due to a 138 mile commute for 2.5 yrs but what broke shouldn't have.

Understood, I'd just go to a different brand after dealing with that. Audi doesn't have a lock on vehicles that are fun in the twisties.
