I have a roll of glow tape I got for free. I'm wondering if it has any use for night fishing.

Cheers.

Fishing around lit up areas and using baits that produce more sound has always worked for me. I bought a rattle trap one time that had flashing eyes, first cast in the dark and I lost it to a cyprus tree.

I lost it to a cyprus [sic] tree.
I think you meant to say that you CAUGHT a cypress tree.

I dislike being on the water at night. Stupid reason, too.

I'm 43 and STILL dislike the water at night. Lol

It is a popular technique when fishing for swordfish at night.

Seems like it would be more popular if it worked very well for things like bass. I know they don't care for things that stick out like a sore thumb in the day time. You want to use colors that blend in with the water clarity and bottom color. I suppose glow in the dark would qualify as the sticking out like a sore thumb they usually find unnatural and unappealing. Someone mentioned it working on swordfish, there are glow in the dark fish in the ocean, so I suppose it's a natural presentation.

We fish walleyes at night quite often, they have great eyes and don't bite often during the day.

I use little "micro" glow sticks when bottom fishing at night.

They're about 1.5" long and about 1/4" thick. I use electrical tape to tape them to the tips of the rods.

Works great when BSing and drinkin' beers. :)

I actually use a lot of black lures at night. Creates a good silhouette against the moonlight when a fish is under it.

Same here, I'll switch to an all black lure when the sun goes down. I have tried a few glow in the dark lures...mostly rooster tails with glowing blades I think. Did not notice a difference.

For bass no, but I do target docks that have light near them. For crappie and catfish at night I use a floating fishing light that I plug in and throw over the side of the boat.
