Had the first half of my pistol class tonight. It was awesome! I'm totally hooked.

Here is my first 9 shots with a Ruger .38

Looks like I hit that same spot above the 10 three times.

Yup first time with a pistol.

I've shot rifles and shotguns in the past.

My first gun will be a gen 4 19 but the revolver was awesome! I hit those close ones with single action. I like the feel of single action.

Congrats... Ruger makes great revolvers. I've taught many new shooters w/ my GP100. That's pretty good shooting for the first time, even if it is at 3-5yds. I think the very first time I pulled the trigger (on a Ruger 9mm pistol) I didn't even hit the paper at 5yds I was so nervous. :). That was my first time firing any sort of gun.

Glad you found the joys of shooting. Now, remember when you're in the voting booth on Nov 6, there are politicians who would just assume you not have the right to bear arms. Be informed when you vote, and if they don't support your rights, don't give them your vote.

Keep "training up". Keep practicing too, there's lotsa free training videos on youtube too. As long as you pocket book can afford it for buying ammo.

Lotsa advice too here on GT. :wavey:

I can castrate an insect with my Marlin 336 from the next zip code but can't do that well with any of my handguns if I stuffed the paper target down the barrel. Nicely done. HH

Thanks IGF.

Yes I'll vote for the right team but being a New England common sense driven conservative, I wish we could lose the nut jobs like Bachmann, Inhoff, etc. They poison the right.

Yeah I've been watching tons of YouTube stuff. Hickock 45 has some great videos.

I'll be shooting once a week minimum.

You might as well take out a loan now. You're going to need it for all the ammo! It's an addicting hobby for sure.

Great to hear you enjoyed it. I find shooting holes in paper is really fun. Pricey, but fun.
Handguns seem to provide more "empowerment" to shooters.

Look into reloading, especially .38 special.

A very rewarding experience.

I plan on getting a gen 4 19. I'll prob target shoot with Speer lawman 115 grain. There only $13 a box. Dirt cheap. If that's what target ammo costs, I'm good. I'll do 3 boxes on a Saturday for less than dinner out.

I'll buy a couple boxes of 147 grain gold dots for personal carry but I would imagine I'll rarely shoot those.

I agree. I like reloading almost as much as I do shooting.

Nice shooting! Welcome to the addiction.

A Gen 4 glock 19 was my first gun bought it Feb of this year, amazing choice for a first one. Now I'm already up to 6 guns!!!

Glock 19
Remington 870
Ruger all american .308
Ruger Sr22
M+M Romanian Ak
Colt M4 carbine (arriving soon on order)

And possibly some more this year depending on a relative going through a divorce.

I never would of dreamed to have this many like this... I thought the Glock would be my only one, and was going to be my conceal carry gun when I turned 21....Now I plan on picking up a Ruger SR9 for summer conceal carry when i'm 21.

Check out http://www.sgammo.com/ for ammo I'm sure plenty of people on here will back me up.

I would recommend 124 grain +P gold dots for personal carry its the same as what the NYPD uses in their Glock 19's and it has been doing a pretty good job lately it seems haha.

You can get it for $25.95 a box of 50 on http://www.sgammo.com/ I ordered a few boxes a while back for my Glock 19

Ok thanks!

I was undecided on the 124 +p or the 147. I'll go with your recommendation, sounds good. Thank you.

Btw, I have the semi auto portion of my training class tonight. I'm excited!

I'll throw up the target tonight and see if I can match my revolver success.

Congrats! Nice shooting for your first time! Of course I'm not surprised. I had been shooting rifles and shotguns for years before I first picked up a pistol. If you have good sight picture and trigger control with rifle it translates to a pistol pretty easily. Well done anyway and a Gen 4 G19 is an ideal first pistol.

Let me be clear, rifle and shotgun when I was 15.

I'm 35 now so I hadn't held/shot a gun in 20 years until Monday and that target you see.

Sweet! Tell us how it goes!

I really need to look into some training classes when money permits, or just find someone good at shooting to help me.
