Since one of the fundamental tenets of Mormonism is spreading the faith, how would Romney, if elected, stay true to his religion through proselytizing?

One of the basic tenets of Christianity is spreading The Gospel.
I guess the world is now under a Christian oppressor because of Obama's Muslim, errr, I mean Christian... faith.

I dunno...the same way that Obama has attempted to stay true to his Marxist doctrine?

I'm confident that Romney's religious faith will remain a private matter for him, just as it was for George W. Bush, much to the unbalanced shrieks of his liberal detractors.

The big "discussion" years ago involved whether or not another Presidential candidate (John F. Kennedy) could hold true to his oath as President when...as a Roman Catholic...Kennedy's first "allegiance" was to the dictates of the Vatican. Are you contending that Jack Kennedy danced like a puppet for the Pope while Kennedy was President?

Do you really expect people to pick a doctrinaire Marxist over a Mormon?

Ah -- an appropriate time to raise the "Wit and Wisdom of Spyder" yet again...

Spyder on statistical math:

With the anonymity afforded by the Internet, I think the only thing we can safely conjecture is that this person gets good and drunk before logging on to GTPI...

.

Even the Fox Noise polls has Obama ahead 46% to 44% with a 4.5% margin of error.

Let's see.............

46 + 4.5 = 50.5 = 51%

44 - 4.5 = 39.5 = 40%

Spyder

Spyder opining that Obama won the first debate:

I guess y'all watched a different debate than the rest of the world watched.

Spyder remarking that he wasn't aware that local law enforcement cooperated with federal law enforcement:

I didn't realize that it was a city cop's job to enforce federal laws.

Spyder opining that one has to be a racist to vote for Romney:

How can anyone that's a gun owner, a Veteran or a Christian support Romney?

Oh, that's right....... because Obama is black.

...And this was a mystifying quote that had nothing to do with anything else that was going on in this particular thread (a clear indication that Spyder hears "voices"):

Crowley was RIGHT!

She told Romney that his numbers didn't add up and she was RIGHT!

Given the anonymity of the Internet, I think the only thing we can safely conjecture is that this person gets good and loaded (on something) before logging on to GTPI...

personally i find more than a few of the beliefs of the members of the LDS to be a bit crazy. however i find many beliefs of Christians to be crazy.

My feeling towards their belief system aside. all but one LDS member i have ever met was a great person with excellent morals. and the few LDS family's i have gotten to know were truly wonderful people.

I do not like Mit Romney, but i believe him being LDS will guide him far better in his roles than many Christians. I may also be wrong.

As another atheist, I find it to be objectionable and highly bigoted for some ignorant hick to try and throw Romney's faith into the mix as a disqualifier. that is discrimmination. (a heavily liberal trait).

You are right on the mark. It isn't "freedom FROM religion" it is "freedom OF" religion.

My only questions about Obama's "faith (whatever it is) is the political influence that Islam is wrapped around and the "Liberation Theology" of Reverend Wright which is also a political movement. I find both objectionable. I have yet to hear one person show that Romney's faith had any effect on his Governorship that would be specific to the Mormon religion..

The best way to inspire people is to lead by example. I would say that he would be most successful by being successful in what he does....it appears to have worked well for him so far.

BTW - I love how folks are more alarmed by a man that has quietly given to people in need; yet they tend to give a pass to a man that sat in church of a racist preaching hate.

What proof do you have that your religion is the ONLY right religion? Not a lot I'd guess. As I've discussed at length before, that is a matter of faith.

Our country was based on religious tolerance. All of us should be free to believe as we choose to believe. Important enough to be in the first amendment.

I'm a committed agnostic. I'm comfortable with that. But I will defend the rights of others to believe as they do.

I'm not tolerant of religions that teach that hurting, lying, cheating, or raping others is fine if they are not of your religion. So I'm not a fan of Islam, but I defend it's free practice here, as long as they are tolerant of others.

It's pretty simple to see that you are willing to at least play a religious bigot in order to launch an attack at one of the candidates.

Having lived in Utah for close to thirty years and not being a member of the LDS Church, I can tell you there are far worse religions than Mormonism.

Granted some of the LDS Faith's tenets make the spots in my eyes go oblong, but so does Catholicism, the Baptists and just about any other faith you care to mention.

Mormons make good neighbors. The majority are honest to a fault.

Having said that I doubt I'll be voting for Mittens, though I won't be voting for Barry either. His religion has zero to do with my choice.

And I think if Mittens becomes President you will find very little discussion by him about his faith.

Only mormons on missions proselytize door to door and stuff like that.

The rest of them live their lives trying to be examples, by being good friends, and being open about their faith.
.

Mormonism isn't a Christian Religion, it's a Cult and all the followers are going to He'll.

Pretty simple.
What defines a cult?
"I see no faults in the Church, and therefore let me be resurrected with the Saints, whether I ascend to heaven or descend to hell, or go to any other place. And if we go to hell, we will turn the devils out of doors and make a heaven of it." - Joseph Smith Jr

And if President Romney forces me to convert I'll be happy that he's not a snake handler.
I'd be happy that there are no standing extermination orders against me (us?) like there were during the 1970's.

When Romney ignores the requests of the Ambassador in Salt Lake City, and the Embassy is over run and the Ambassador to Utah is killed by Mormon radicals, I will be worried, until then, not so much.
Let's get this straight, it wouldn't be called UTAH, it would be called deseret.
He could pass an Executive Order that all Citizens must immediately become Mormons and that those who don't comply would be immediately put to death.
I realize (hope?) this is a joke, but one of the tenets of Mormonism is that each person must have and exercise agency when it comes to accepting the covenants of the church (and everything else in life).
I guess you've never read the Holy Bible.

Spyder
Have read and studied the bible, have read the BOM, have read one of the Vedas, have read part of the Quran.

I suppose you're pointing towards the part in revelation talking about where it says that those who add to the book will be cursed and whatnot.

The book of revelations was not, chronologically, the last book of the Bible; it was put into that order, though, by the people who compiled the Bible and organized its contents, long before we were born on this earth...
