Last night I was going to work and I got to the last stoplight before Walmart. I had a red light so I stopped, when the light changed I took off, just as I took off the lady riding with me said,"Mark the person driving on Shawnee is going to run the light", so I stopped. Had Pam not said anything we would have gotten T boned for sure. This guy was in the outside lane on Shawnee and after the intersection he veered over jumped the median and went into the oncoming lanes, thankfully there was no traffic right there. I reckon we are a couple lucky MoFo's:phew::alex:

Weird but I can relate, a few years ago I was driving with a girlfriend of mine and for some unknown reason I just felt like the guy at the intersection was going to randomly pull out in front of us. And the dumb bastard did! I had already slowed and prepared for the idiot but I really have no explanation of why I got that feeling.

Think about it to this day.

If she had enough time to say all that, you'd have been a mile up the road.

If the car had of been close, it would have been a panicked, "Watch out!", not a calm "Mark, blah blah blah".

Something fishy here.

Something fishy here.

That takes less than five seconds to say.

It doesn't take ESP to tell what a car is going to do. If you see a car approaching a stop sign or red light, and it isn't slowing down when it should be, that is a hint that it is going to blow through the intersection. It has happened to me.

The pattern of motion of a car is similar to body language. With experience, you learn to "read" it.

Driving defensively is necessary, no, mandatory.
(You gotta not only watch what you're doin', but, you got to watch every sphincter muscle around you, too!)

I have "coincidences" happen to me when driving too. I have learned to never ignore them.

Okie, you always have to be very observant at traffic lights. I have avoided being T-boned 4 times in the past year, by being ovbsevant at traffic lights and stop signs. :phew:

Clear the lanes and proceed with caution. Be prepared to stop.

I must have sounded like an automaton at every intersection while teaching the boy to drive.

Glad you're still with us Mark. :)

Sometimes when people randomly slow down, I pull out in front of 'em just to keep everything moving.

Glad you're ok...

I always look both ways entering an intersection after a red light. Too many idiots out there, spacing out or texting or whatever. Good habit to get into, if you can.

I also drive solid cars (Crown Vic cruiser or Volvo wagon), just in case..

Song about that.

He was going to Dallas Texas in a semi truck culled from that big McDonald's
You know the one they built up on that great big ol' bridge
Across the Will Rogers Turnpike
Took the Big Cabin exit stopped and bought a couple of cartons of cigarettes
At that Indian Smoke Shop with the big neon smoke rings
In the Cherokee Nation hit Muskogee late that night
Somebody ran a stoplight at the Shawnee Bypass
Roscoe tried to miss 'em but he didn't quite

Who is that song by? Big Cabin is way north of the McD's over I-44, so if he was going to Dallas in his big rig, he must've been using the iOS Maps app because he was pretty lost!
