Kind of stumped with this red dot

So I have a dedicated HD shotgun and it has a rail on it. I was planning on using the irons but my friend gave me a red dot for free. He said he paid $99 for it at a gun show and he thinks it is a dud..

I can't find any reviews or information on this red dot so I'm looking for help with research or advise on weather to throw it away or throw it on the shotgun!
