Well, I'm deciding on whether to get a G23. Got a 20s, 26,30,36. All are gen 3's. Is it logical to start another caliber? The 10mm is my woods gun and as you can see the rest are 9mm or .45acp. Like the idea of .40 and being able to convert the barrel to shoot 9mm. If I get the 23 it would be a Gen 4 FDE. Darn that Hickok 45 if making me consider another Glock.
Heard nothing but good on the G23. What do you guy's think?

If you have the money why not. The gen4 23 is a nice shooter IMHO.

G23 was my first gun and I still own it. I've never once considered getting rid of it.

I prefer my G19, but my G23 is a very nice pistol. .40SW is popular among the LE crowd so ammo isn't hard to find at a good price, it would be a good addition to the collection in my opinion.

I have a 20SF and 23 and both are fine weapons. I find I shoot the 20 far more than the 23 - I am a far better shot, no doubt due to longer sight radius.

i say heck ya. I say get all the calibers!
you never known when 9mm will be out of stock and you have to use your 40.

If I could choose just one glock to have it would be a 23, best overall gun "in my opinion" between size, weight, capacity, firepower, and concealability "I think I just made that word up lol" plus the options of going to a 9mm conversion barrel or even dropping in a glock 32 barrel it it to make it a 357 sig pistol. All these things make it my favorite glock. Id say buy one and never look back

I have a Glock 23, I love it. The nice thing is that with the right conversion barrel, it can shoot .40, .357 SIG and 9mm. I'd never consider getting rid of my 23, it's just so useful and fun to shoot. If you're interested in .40, and are considering concealed carrying it, go with the 23, otherwise I'd get the 22.

What he said :-) Which is why I bought mine.

I have 2 G23. With a G24 you can also shoot 357 sig with a barrel change.

I finally got a G4 23. Great gun. It has the grippier (gray) slide compared to my G4 19 and I actually prefer that quite a bit. Unsure whether I'll get the .357 barrel or not. 180gr .40 is a soft shooting round and effective enough.

Same here. IMO, the G23 is GLOCK's finest pistol.

Go for it. But don't bother with the conversion barrel. My conversion barrel gave me a lot of failures to feed/eject.

The G23 is a perfect handgun, on many levels, and a great choice, no doubt. My only thought that differs from the others chiming in, is the fact, that it fills the niche, for most, as a carry choice. You seem to be heavy in that department, with already owning a 26, 30, and 36, for carry options.

I have an obsession, for not owning too many carry choices. Simply because one, usually gets the pick, over the others. You, owning both a 30, and 36, is there a time you'd pick the 36, over the 30, when heading out the house? Me personally, would pick the 30 over either the 26, or 36, but that's just me, others will disagree. Point is, I went through at one point what you are, and I would not want a fourth, carry firearm. At $500, + or -, in each firearm, that replicates each other is for me a waste. This is what I did. Sold the 26, and 30, to fund a G29, my now carry firearm. The wife carries the 23, and for range fun, gets a Lone Wolf barrel dropped in. By the way, have only 500 rounds of 9MM ran through the conversion, but not one single failure, of any kind! Hope this helps.

I have a 19 and 23. The 23 is my EDC and I love shooting it in either .40S&W or .357Sig W/G32 barrel. Fun - Accurate - Reliable, what more can you ask for!!:thumbsup:

I have a G23 and it is my carry gun, about the same size as the 30 but thinner and lighter. I carried a G19 for many years for work and find the G23 to be the must comfortable and familiar, tied obviously with the G19.
I like having redundant weapons for the same purpose in all the major calibers. I got caught short when 9mm and .45 was hard to get. While I now stock better I also like having options.

Thanks guy's; excellent points. I hear what "alwaysshootin" is saying. However, I only carry the G36.
I like what "Redbrd" said. OPTIONS.
The ammo availability issue would be covered and the 13 plus 1 in a hard hitting round is going to be a good upgrade to CCW.
Think I'll be shopping.

I have a Gen3 23, a LW 9mm barrel and a Glock 357sig barrel and never had one problem with any of them. I think the 23 is a very versatile gun.

If you really want it by all means get it. You won't regret it. You could also consider getting a 29 to go with your 20 or just getting a 10mm conversion barrel for your 30. You can shoot .40 S&W from the 10mm with a stock 10mm barrel or a .40 conversion barrel. You cannot convert a .40 to 10mm or 10mm to 9mm.

Who said gun purchases had to be logical? ;)

I own 7 Glocks and the 23 is the only one I have duplicates of (Gen 2 and Gen 4). I'm not a dyed in the wool .40 fan but the 23 is the perfect size in a great caliber.

Now that weather is cooling off up here by the lake, my Gen3 G23 is seeing more OWB carry... although it sports a KKM .357 SIG barrel :whistling:

Whatever your flavor, can't go wrong with a G23!

Yesum, that is a trueism! Who ever said otherwise, should be shot!

Wanting it, is 95% of, getting it! Only saying this because you choose the 26 over the 30, and 36. By all means get the 23, you will love it. It is a fine firearm, in a great caliber.
