I know it is a strange question but has anyone ever shot 40 cal out of a 9mm Glock mag and how did it function?

Many malfunctions.

There are some differences in Glock 9mm and 40 S&W magazines.
The main distinction between them is the distance of the feed lips.
9 mm: .325-.335
40 S&W: .360-.370
I don't see it working well if at all.

Not only what SJ 40 said but, doing so may mess up that mag for use with 9mm. Mags are cheap so why mess up a perfectly good one and then end up buying two mags instead of one? :dunno:

$20-ish on line sometimes with free shipping. :wavey:

???
I've shot about 1500 9mm rounds through my G27 with
a Storm Lake 40-9mm barrel and G26 mags without a single problem.
Shot 200 Winchester Ranger 124 NATO FMJ +P a few hours ago.

But I have not tried, or have any interest in trying, 40 out of a 9mm mag.

Recommend using the right mags.

I have seen people load 9mm in .40 magazines on several occasions on the firing line and have malfunctions until an Instructor corrected the problem. YMMV!

9mm in a .40 mag = Occasional malfunctions

.40 in a 9mm mag = FREQUENT malfunctions

(been there, tried that!)

I have a LW 40-9 barrel for my G23 and I have fired several rounds of 9mm through .40cal mags but never .40cal in 9mm mags.

I have shot 50 rounds out of the 9mm magazines and they functioned fine. You can only fit 13 rounds of .40 in them and they bulge a little bit so inserting them into the grip makes for a tight fit.

That is a great benefit, to owning Glock pistols. The mags are almost/always, cheaper than their competition. Check H&K prices some time.

did long time ago, picked 17 mags while shooting a 22, it worked fine, the only thing I noticed it was hard to load the mags, didn't realize the mistake until I got home, now mags are mark....

well i guarantee that using g22/35 mags, loaded with .40, in a g17/34, does NOT work. don't ask me how i know...

Just two weekends ago I showed up at the range with my Glock 35 and only had 9mm mags. I shot 200 rounds through it without a single issue. :dunno: (I don't see doing it any time soon, nor intentionally, but it worked that day.)
