What is a good duty ready ankle holster for a J frame smith..

I currently have a 27 in a good ankle rig, but am tired of carrying it off duty as my second gun and will be switching to the snubbie as my off duty back up.

My 27 rig is a galco and very secure, does anyone use the Galco for the J frame ,I have an old custom holster for my 66 ankle gun and can't make out ther manufacturer.

Its very comfortable, very secure. I used one for 6 years or so, finally, the elastic got frayed and, I need to order another.

This.

They used to be made in east Phoenix and were a local favorite with the old time revolver cops.

This is what I use. These guys were partners with Lou Alessi and opened thier own place after Lou passed.

I have been using an Uncle Mikes ankle holster since 2004. Have carried both a G26 and 442 in it over the years.

Been carried daily since I bought it and has held up well.

Another vote for the renegade.

Yours is probably the same as mine, the original holster which was made by Rogers. Rogers quit making them and Renegade now produces the design.

I like the retention strap behind the trigger guard design you wipe it off on the draw with your trigger finger. It is the most secure and comfortable ankle rig I ever used.

Ken Null makes the most comfortable one but it is friction fit with no retention strap or snap and mine popped out when I jumped a ditch during a pursuit. Went back to my Rogers rig and stuck with it.

Galco Ankle Glove is what I last used. Worked fine, even over a boot. Used a Bianchi Ranger Triad before that, which was also good over a boot. Have heard good things about Renegade, and if you can find an original Lou Alessi, that's probably the gold standard.

The only one I have used on a consistent basis was the Galco Ankle Glove. Great holster, great retention, and with the optional calf strap, stayed in place very well.
