Finally found a decent deal on a Gen2 G19 ($352 OTD). Appears to be carried a lot, shot very little; there's barely any smilies on the barrel...

But, it does have the black internals and doesn't appear to have the new firing pin safety. Here's my question: I'm a Glock armoror, can I just call and have them send me the parts (without me buying them) or would I have to send it in? Obviously I can just buy them but I'm trying to be cheap

I'd prefer not to send it in because I don't want them replacing it with a Gen3/Gen4 for whatever reason they happen to decide...:dunno:

With all due respect, how are you an armorer and don't know this?

Since you are an armorer they can ship the parts directly to you.

If it were me I wouldn't let that extractor out of my hot little hands or sight, Nice Gen 2 Congrats ! SJ 40

I know (and it's a fair point), but recently people have posted about how Glock won't send parts that need fixing (mostly for BTF related issues) to them even if they're armorers and they were requiring them to send the guns in... trying to avoid that and I'd just buy the parts if that was the case.

I'll be calling them on Monday but it's Friday and I was just looking to see if anyone had dealt with this issue, rather than BTF, lately.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Gotcha. I can't imagine they wouldn't send you those parts due to some new guns having issues.

As SJ said, I would keep that extractor and ejector. I don't believe the ejector changed with the parts upgrade.

I replaced my own parts on my Gen 2 G20 because I wanted to keep the original parts. I can't image them not sending you the parts, but you never know. Being an Armorer you should be able to do it for around $50-$60 if they don't. It cost me a little over a $100.

That may not be the reality but I'm not the kind to leave something that important up to chance. SJ 40

1992, 6 part Upgrade

GLOCK, INC. Technical Bulletin #920403

April 1, 1992

Glock, Inc. announces a production change of the firing pin safety system. This new firing pin safety system has been installed in all production Glock pistols since November, 1991. A voluntary upgrade is being offered to maintain the Glock tradition of ensuring that all of our pistols are up to the latest standards in 21st century Glock technology.

Most importantly, the components of the new firing pin safety system are not interchangable with the components of the old systam and Glock will always strive towards maintaining this feature of interchangability while working to ensure future interchangability.

The upgraded firing pin safety system consists of: the firing pin, firing pin safety, the extractor, the spring loaded bearing and the trigger bar. The upgraded system is applicable only to Glock pistols with the following serial number ranges :

Glock 17 - alpha prefix AA - WF
Glock 21 - alpha prefixes through XL
Glock 19 - alpha prefixes through WJ Glock 22 - alpha prefixes through YA
Glock 20 - alpha prefixes thorugh WW Glock 23 - alpha prefixes through SK

The upgraded firing pin safety has a new surface finish making it nearly 100% saltwater corrosion resistant. Also, after rigorous and extensive testing, the new system proves to be more durable and has a longer useful life. Here, as alwyas, Glock is working toward maintianing its standard of perfection.

1993, G19 Upgrade

Glock Model 19, 9mm Luger caliber, requires an upgrade for all pistols.

These pistols have the potential for an UNINTENTIONAL DISCHARGE of a cartridge with the action open.

The Glock model 19 pistol slide has a bottom protrusion, whose function is to push cartridges from the top of the magazine into the chamber. When the pistol is jammed in a double feed situation, the slide protrusion can come in contact with the primer of the jammed cartridge and cause UNINTENTIONAL DISCHARGE while the action is open.

I have a stock genII 19 with the stock uncaptured RSA and I am not going to send it back to Glock. It has worked fine for twenty years and I dont want them screwing it up.

Add ammo and shoot. Repeat. That's all you need. Nice G19, BTW.

Glock Warranty Service Department will send the free upgrade kit to a Certified Glock Armorer, but you need to provide the serial number of the pistol.

OR,

You can take the pistol to any GSSF outdoor match and have it upgraded free.

Dropped mine off at armorer for upgrade.

He shot a box thru to verify all was good.

Said he was shooting clay pigeons at 50 yds.

Paid $45.
