Hey guys, My sister is a school teacher in Houston and a few yrs ago both our parents died within weeks apart before Xmas of all things. She took it pretty hard and got a DWI. She paid her dues and she tells me she is cleared. She wants to buy a pistol is but really scared of the background check. So the question is she able to get a pistol. :dunno:
Thanks

Can she pass all of the above questions on the Federal form? A regular DWI in Texas is a Class B misdemeanor but that doesn't mean that is what your sister was charged with and/or convicted of. From just a regular Calss B DWI conviction in addition to passing all the hoops on the federal form, I would say yes.

She'll be fine. Now she can't go getting a CHL or anything for at least 5yrs from conviction date but to merely purchase a firearm a Class B DWI or even a Class A DWI 2nd arent disqualifiers.

Good luck to her. The waiting time for the CHL may seem like an eternity,
