Just like the title says. I am new to AR's and this will be my first one. What are people's thoughts on used? I know that custom built rifles greatly depend on the assembler, but what about off the rack rifles that are used?

I don't "need" this gun, as in it will not fill a particular need, as I have handguns for self defense, a shotgun for home defense, and hunting rifles, but I think that it would be fun to have.

Thoughts?

ARs can be a lot of fun. It's good that you have your purpose for wanting one nailed down. The Sport is a good one for the price. I am not a fan of BM for various reasons.

BM has made some good rifles over the years. They have also gone through periods where QC has suffered. A new sport would be my choice.

I like used guns because generally speaking they aren't "used" that much. Of course caveat emptor as always.

One more very biased vote for the 15-Sport.

S&W sport since jan, ~1500 down range, never a problem, with reloads or factory, .668moa 5 shots at 100 yards, melonite barrel for superior corrosion resistance, great limited life time warranty.

Agreed. Sport for the same reasons as above.

Buddy of mine has the sport. He loves it. He has shot about 1000 rounds through it with minimal cleaning without a problem with the cheapest ammo we can get our grubby hands on. I vote for the sport and can vouch that it is a fun shooter. $660 OTD is a winner all day in my book.

Of those two, M&P Sport.
