View Full Version : Whats on your AR?

Im curious on the various set ups you have chosen for your AR platform.

On my 16 inch, Ive kept it very streamline, from a Triji 4x32 HorseShoe ontop and a pair of Dueck Defense QTS. Other than that, its for a MI Midlength Handguard, Magpul Grip and A2 Buttstock.

On my 10.5 SBR, I have your basic quadrail, flashlight, Eotech 512, and a El-Cheapo low profile laser, and MagPul furniture.

My coyote 20 inch is set up with a standard 20 in HB and a Nikon M223 along with a bipod.

What do you have on yours, and what are your primary uses? Why did you choose what you did...

Pictures welcome.

Eotech 552, Surefire M951XM07, Magpul MOE stock, Tang Down VFG, Troy BUISs, ladder rail covers. I own a 3 point sling, but rarely use it. There's extra batteries for the Eotech and Surfire in the grip and VFG.

Uses? Fun, range toy, HD/SD. If some sort of SHTF, considering where I live and what it would probably be, I won't be doing anything about it....other than trying to get the hell outta here.

Magpul MOE hand guards, VTAC light mount with Surefire G2, Aimpoint PRO, Magpul rear MBUS, Magpul MOE pistol grip, Magpul CTR stock, and VTAC 2-Point Padded sling.

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b387/spyderdude18/IMGP0495.jpg

Used for home defense, fun at the range, and SHTF if needed.

I wanted to keep it as lightweight as possible but still have the capabilities of a good defensive carbine. The light would be handy for identifying potential threats in the dark, sling is handy in case I need to carry the rifle for any length of time, and the red dot is for quick target acquisition. The rear Magpul MBUS is self explanatory. The stock I sort of bought on impulse but I like it better than the standard M4 stock.

I keep her loaded with Hornady TAP 55 gr. .223 ammunition

I have decided to keep my Colt 6720 simple for now. I slapped on a carry handle, quad rail with ladder covers, and an AFG2. That's it...for now. Probably gonna look around for an Aimpoint optic for it next spring.

Mine is done the same way. You can look at the one I posted earlier in the thread. I just used a saw to cut it off and then a dremel tool to grind it down and remove the edges. It's not hard to remove it, just hard to make the decision to do it. Then once you start there is no turning back.

With the DDM4V1, I would think it would take a very steady hand to cut/grind it, and then you'd be left with a gap in the top of your quad-rail. I'm just wondering how that worked-out for Clutch Cargo, how it looks.

I have two M4geries set up almost exactly the same... one primary (LMT lower, BCM upper) and a backup (PSA everything except BCM BCG).

MOE stocks, BCM Gunfighter charging handles, Aimpoint PROs, MBUS, AFG2s, ASAPs and MS3s, VTAC light mounts with Polytacs and Pmags. Grips currently don't match (one MOE, one Ergo). BCM upper has a Battlecomp, PSA has an A2.

My 20" has a SOPMOD, Ergo w/palm shelf, VTAC 15" rail, VTAC sling, Blackhawk bipod, TA31F ACOG, Burris Fastfire III backup sight.

7.5" pistol has an ACE pistol buffer tube, EOTech XPS3-0, Noveske KX3.

Just got 4 more lowers on the way to my dealer.

I had the BC installed literally about 2 days before I returned to Afghanistan, so I've only put a couple of mags through it. So far, it feels louder, but slightly softer recoil than the A2. Definitely more concussion to the sides though.

It actually is a DDM4-V4 and came with the 9'' Omega X rail. I am 6'1'' and have pretty long arms so I replaced the 9'' X rail with a DD 14'' Lite rail. The longer rail works alot better for me. This by far has been my favorite AR and would highly recommend picking one up. I took it up to the Knob Creek MG shoot this past October and ran the **** out of it. We blew threw 1000 rounds very fast doing 5-6 mag dumps at a time and she ran like a $2 crack head working for her next fix. It started getting too hot to even touch the rail. :wow:

Gotta love the FDE AR's and Glocks. You would be correct my friend SVTPWNZ=2003 10th anniversary silver Mustang Cobra vert. I have had quite a few mustangs and have thouroughly enjoyed them all. I picked up a BCM lower from G&R recently and am seriously considering ceracoating it and an upper in FG (similer to what Knights did recently with the SR-15)and going with a FG Magpul UBR stock for it. We shall see. :wavey:

The only thing of interest we are running right now is a made in Hong Kong single AA battery 3 ounce light that mounts in a 1 inch mount. It claims 200 lumen. It appears closer to 150. Adjusts for spill or throw and adjusted tight facial recognition out to 120 feet is easy. Threatening gestures and weapons are identifyable at 200 feet. We have 2 on AR 15s and one on an LR-308. We will see how they hold up.

If they hold up to extended shooting sessions and getting knocked around, we may brand them and market them in the $25-$30 price range, including a picatinny rail mount.

-POF P415 has a Burris Fullfield Tac 30 variable power scope, BUIS, Surefire and a two point sling.

-Double Star AR pistol (7.5 in barrel) has a small reflex sight (can't remember the brand, want to get an Aimpoint T-1) a small strobe capable light, BUIS and a one point sling.
Don't usually like one point slings, but the weapon is so small it works well.

Mine is a patrol rifle, current set-up:

DDM4V3 LW (Omega Rail, MOE stock)
Magpul MIAD grip
LaRue Clips
Aimpoint Pro w/ADM lower 1/3 QD mount
TruGlo tritium front sight insert
TLR-1S
Gisseile SSA
Springer Precision PMAG coulper
Blue Force Gear Sling with sewn in QD swivel
BattleComp
I think that's it...

Pic of it in it's current state is at the bottom.
http://i47.tinypic.com/s0v9lv.jpg

Once qualification come around I am transitioning to a Troy rifle from the Dick's special. Most of the gear will carry over. It will be set-up:
Stock Troy gip and stock(ugly as sin but super comfortable)
Aimpoint with same mount
SSA trigger
BC
PMAG coupler
TLR-1S replaced with Inforce light(toggles on the TLR-1 keep getting hit in the bag killing the batteries)
same sling
Light mount that sticks it out beyond the barrel and QD swivel in the stock already installed.
Pic of the Troy set-up:
http://i48.tinypic.com/ve9a9i.jpg

BC vs. A2:
Very noticeable reduction in muzzle rise. Slight reduction in recoil. Noticeable difference in side blast but it's not obnoxious to shooting partners. Solid buy in my book. I will be trying the BCM comp whenever it is finally released.
