I don't even know where to begin.

This morning the Chief Deputy for the Victoria County Sheriff's Office died of an apparent heart attack. Chief Terry Simons was 55 years old.

This is the agency that I was just hired.

Chief Simons was also my dad.

I had just gone on duty this morning when I heard the call drop for EMS to my parents residence. I responded and was the second deputy on scene. My dad was in overall good health and had just completed his morning run when he collapsed.

The words to describe my emotions in all of this escape me. I am in shock and feel like I have just finished working the longest shift of my career.

I have made myself busy to keep from dwelling on this, and am thankful for some minor miracles.

My dad was a great man of faith and I am secure in his salvation. There are many things to be thankful for. I can already see Gods hand in some of the things that have occurred.

Please keep my family in your thoughts an prayers. If anyone is local and would like to attend the Funeral I will post the arrangements when they are finalized.

Damn and carp. I'm sorry for your personal loss. I'm sure your father was very, very proud to see his son grow up to be a person and a professional good enough for him to take onto his team.

Prayers for you and your family.

I'm so sorry for your loss of your dad. It is inevitable, but very difficult when it happens.

I'm dreading the time when my kids hear I'm gone. It is so devastating to those still here.

Some are chosen sooner than others. God Bless and RIP.

Prayers inbound brother, hang in there with your family and know that this time of grief and confusion will pass.

My dad was a great man of faith and I am secure in his salvation. There are many things to be thankful for. I can already see Gods hand in some of the things that have occurred.

There are no better words than those. I always somewhat enjoy attending the "Celebration of Life" ceremonies that often follow the death of a man or woman like you've described. I'm joyful for your dad that he is finally "home", although sooner than anyone here had planned.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I don't know if I ever told you but my dad was a VCSO deputy in the 70s and early 80s. He may have known your father, I can't remember. I'm not sure your dad was old enough to have known my dad. I wish my dad was still alive to ask

I'll say a prayer for your dad and for you. God bless.

My dad was hired in 2008 for the Chief Deputy position. So I am sure that he did not know him. I sure that my Captin knew him. My captain has be with the SO for 30+ years.
