It's difficult for me to fathom that with all that red, somehow Obama won by 100 EV, and around 2.5M for the popular vote. Also, that blue section in Texas next to Mexico seems a bit suspicious....

I saw this on election night and started to wonder just how well the old electoral college is working for us. Just a few population dense sections of the country control the outcome of the election. :dunno:

An Electoral college where each state had two votes like they do senators would fix this problem.

Would be even worse with popular vote. We need to elect presidents by congressional districts.

An Electoral college where each state had two votes like they do senators would fix this problem.

The GOP coming to grips with the fact that the White Male and Rural vote wont win them an election next time is a far easier fix.

The problem with that map is that NOBODY lives in those rural counties. In my home state, for every county that went blue, it takes 30+ red counties to match the population.
