Pakistan's nuclear capability was built up by AQ Khan during the 1980's to offset the Indians.
Pakistan's cause for existence has been since 1947 and continues to be its diametric opposition to the state of India. It has no identity but that, which is why it allows for the LET, Taliban, and various other Islamist organizations to openly operate within its borders and so close to its capital.
Ergo, your pointing at Pakistan (which has no real means to deliver munitions in a controlled manner all the way to Israel anyway) has no validity and only shows a superficial examination of the modern status quo, failing to take into account the history, traditions, culture, and needs of the countries in question.

I think to some extent it befits some of these awful governments in countries like Iran, Syria, and now Egypt to have Israel around. Israel is a real boogey-man they can sell to their people. Having a bad guy and generating fear about the bad guy can distract people from problems made and perpetuated by their suck government.
If the people in Iran were as wealthy as the people in Kuwait, I doubt the 1979 Revolution would have had more than about five followers and last more than an afternoon. I think having Israel as a continuing threat makes it a bit more safe for these countries.
Are the folks in charge in Egypt and Iran true-believers? I don't think so when it comes to preserving their power. The mullahs are not blowing themselves up with suicide vests. I think that these are bad regimes, but like any regime they fear loss of power more than anything. They have played the destruction of Israel ticket for a long time and I think that they they want the destruction of Israel. However, I think that they have to be careful not to lose a bad guy for fear of counter-revolution and also careful not to be nuked in the process. I see these regimes as wanting to be recognized as victims and wanting the world to isolate Israel out of some sort of guilt, which is remarkable. I think that if all the Jews folded their tents tonight and moved out of Israel in the morning that that the whole Middle East would be a huge, huge crap-storm by lunch. If you convince the people you govern that their lives are so bad because of a bad guy and the bad guy no longer exists, their lives are still crappy and they look other people to blame. The Islamic countries need Israel. Israel is their excuse.

Everyone knows they have the bomb, but they refuse to confirm nor deny. Whatever.
I grew up in a household with parents who were a Catholic and a Jew. This stuff is important to me. I have very close relatives who live in Israeli today. Like right now.
The fact of the matter is that Iran wants a nuclear weapon as a self defense method. Just like all of the other players in the nuclear game. If you have a nuke, it takes away some of your opponents options. It is just like carrying a gun. If I know you've got a gun, I'm probably a lot less likely to mess with you.
I personally think Israel is just fine, and seriously doesn't have to worry about any attack from an insane mullah in Iran. What they need to do, is work on resolving the Palestinian crisis. I call it a crisis because it has dragged on so long, and generations of palestinians are now living in refugee camps. Gaza is basically a large prison for millions of people. Israel has defied United Nations resolutions, and elected officials have said they are going to treat Palestinians like dogs until they give up. There needs to be some peace, and Israel needs to make that their top priority. And it will involve some compromise on both sides. Until that happens, Israel will have to live on edge. And that isn't fun. (though I do think the IDF chicks with guns are HOT)

Sure they were founded by expat Jews but todays Israel is about as far from the American version of Judaism as chalk is from cheese.
To be an Israeli is a state of mind, Judaism is what founded them and is a common DNA but if you are religious you are one of the problems to everyday Israelis.
