The GOP controls the House. So what?

Boehner told Diane Sawyer that he is surrendering the fight against Obamacare.

He sucks.

Because???

The President is against him. Will get veto'd if he passed a bill.

The Senate is against him. He can't get the bleepin bill farkin PASSED!

The USSC is clearly against him. They see no problems with the minor issues people have been whining about for 3 years. (Hint: It's not the mandate, it's the cost!)

At what point does continued fighting actually get us somewhere? You want to fight a battle before we are ready. Seems he should set this one aside and work towards a bipartisan tax and spending plan.

You're right. Boehner should "compromise", or in other words, cave in.

"People get the government they deserve"
Alexis de Tocqueville

We're stuck with Obamacare because most of the nation is too brain-dead to pay attention and those in government know it.

The Supreme Court today seats fascist traitors who understand the implications of what they've done and no doubt accepted some form of payoff/bribe to render the decision they did. They should all hang.

There is no more republic of the United States Of America.
You are slave to a fascist socialist oligarchy. Get used to it.

That's funny. Let's stay further apart and get nothing done, then throw em all out of office because they can't get anything done.

Here's your situation: Your party (and mine) is in the minority - by a LARGE MARGIN. You have a choice - block everything, do nothing and get a SMALLER party. Or work together (something everyone is screaming for Congress to do) and get something done - but you may have to concede some points in some areas.

You remember who was in power in Congress in 1986, right? Do you remember the LAST tax-and-spending bill - the one that paved the way to the 90's economic success. TRA86???

Bipartisan creation and support during a Demo-controlled Congress.

But I'm sure we'd all rather sit by the wood stove and complain instead of getting things done.

Dennis, do you seriously believe there will be any meaningful reduction in spending?

Lets revisit this the next time they vote on raising the debt ceiling.

The problem is, does anyone really think the President will compromise to get anything done? His bipartison commision made recommendations that he ignored in his first term.

Which entitlement program will he cut?

Everyone wants the republicans to give in without the other side making concessions.

I was going to respond to OP in kind. Tours is one of the best posts I have read in some time. I would add the Dems will have to lose the "winner take all" attitude to get some real move toward compromise.

Que all the posts about how one should never compromise your convictions..................

The GOP controlled house has no fight, that ship has sailed. He can sit there and scream every single day left until implementation of obama care and nothing will change. Not saying Boehner is great, but to blame him for obama care going forward is not being very realistic.

The press misquoted Boehner, which was no doubt deliberate. Both Boehner and Mitch McConnell have stated they were not elected to raise tax rates.

On the other hand Harry Reid stated before the election that there was no way Senate Democrats were going to agree to any compromise should Mitt Romney be elected. Reid after the election is trying to pretend Democrats are the only politicians re-elected and he's claiming a mandate.

If Obama/Democrats taxed everyone making over $250M at 100% and took the entire profits of all Fortune 500 companies the federal government would have enough money to run the government for 180 days.

It's not the House Republicans who are a joke, it's America's educational system that with the Radical Left mainstream media who have created yet another Marxist workers' paradise right here in the USA that are the joke.

Except that the joke isn't one bit funny, as the proletariat masses are about to discover.

^^This.

The House Republicans understand exactly where they are and what's at stake. The 2014 mid-terms are 2 years away and if they don't get something done with the economy pretty quickly, we could end up with the scariest of all possible scenarios. And that is Obama with a dem super-majority congress in his last two years and no worries about re-election.

Therein lies the main tragedy - when the "radical" Christians run out of money, they start reducing spending. When "evolved" Marxists run out of money, they start killing people. Millions at a time.

The alternative is perma-smile Nancy Pelosi voting massive legislation she did not read.

Boehner and Obama are playing a game of chicken.

Imagine the power they have. One wrong word from either can cost the economy $ billions.

If the business world sees a certain fiscal cliff look for a 1929 crash.

The people that cast the pro-socialized medicine must be forced to actually endure it. Long waits, rationing, Nurse Practitioners/PA's in place of MD's, the disbanding of Life Flight Service and Outcome Based Medicine.

I'm rather in full agrement with you sir.

Think how many judges the great one will be able to appoint to the court now.

I understand why the people who voted him in did, I just don't think even they have a clue what they've done. Yes, they've ensured they will continue to get free milk from all us milk cows, but beyond that they know not how they've weakened......amd IMO destroyed the vast part of what this Country was built on.

No longer is liberty, freedom, and hard work that motivates us, it's greed. Which ever side can supply the people with what they demand "for free" will be the side that gets power.

Only a silly man will look for or expect any program that gives people something to be cut. Not going to happen. Ever.

You are correct I do believe in your assessment that the US of A is done. Oh, it won't happen overnight....thank God, but when these same folks who voted to receive free milk start being told the milk cows aren't producing any longer and our society starts looking and acting just like Greece........only the cow who understands what has happened and has put some of his milk back for him and his, well you know, eh?

Considering how this president likes to "go around" Congess and do pretty much as he wishes, bullies folks, lies, and desires to be King IMO, what was done in the last couple of decades won't be undone for over a hundred years.

And anyone silly enough to think we'll still be around in a hundred years, at least in any form that one of today's citizens would recognize, suffers from a big dose of cognitive dissonance... I reckon I do.

Which entitlement program will he cut?

Everyone wants the republicans to give in without the other side making concessions.

There will be no cuts.

Just what do you think got him elected? The promise and certain knowledge that if one voted for him, one was going to receive stuff....................."free stuff".

They think.

But that's all it took, for them to believe it.

Politicians are rather short sighted for the most part, they don't see or think past what it will take for them to win the next election. Usually they understand that they'll be out of office when the really hard knocks come round. They care not about today or tomorrow.

Couple them with the voters who don't care either and this is what you get. Though I must admit, this president has plans longer off than tomorrow...........and he knows no one who can do anything will catch on, they'll be too busy drinking all that "free" milk, eh?

Well, the voters have voted Obamacare twice. Got a problem with representative government? Maybe Boehner's trying to keep the Republican Party from slipping further into irrelevance.

The voters didn't vote for Obamacare, haven't at any time.

What they voted for each time, was something ...free.

You can't get blood out of a turnip and you can't make some one pay for health insurance if they don't have the money.

Heck no, I love the teat. I want everyone else to give up the teat - bunch of moochers.

If we want to not drive off the cliff (personally, I think our brakes failed) you're correct, LOTS of stuff will have to be cut. Funny, I think a former POTUS wanted to have private retirement accounts but a certain party in congress voted that down.

I mean who knows, maybe O being re-elected is kinda a good thing. We will just speed up the inevitable. If only congress had voted to be under Ocare. Hey good enuff for me, good enuff for them. Now where is my unicorn, I have a rainbow to visit.
