SIG .45 question

Stopped by the my local Pawn Shop today. Didn't have much
time so my info is limited but I saw a SIG in .45 that I have
a question or 2 about. This pistol looked just like a SIG 220
European. It has the European style mag release and lanyard and the
parkerized finish was what I'd call 90+%.
It was stamped SIG on one side and Browning Arms on
the other. The grips are stamped Browning.
The Lady who owns the shop had not had it appraised yet
and no price on it. Just wondering if anyone had any idea
what the history of this weapon would be and what kind of
price would be fair?

Your guess is as good as mine. It looks exactly like a
SIG 220.

Sounds like a BDA to me, Browning imported them in the late 70's IIRC before SIG set up shop stateside. Not one seen a whole lot on the market, I couldn't hazard a guess as to value though. You might go the SIG forum and post it there, those guys would know.

browning never marketed the gun right they were discounted by browning for cheaper than lamas and stars wish i had bought a few todays value no idea

no more than an old SiG P220 unless you collect them or it is in a harder to find caliber (Super .38)...still a nice pistol if you don't mind the heel release...may have polished flats on the slide and a slightly different nose...

So, you're saying it's a Browning BDA, made by SIG on
a SIG design but sold as a Browning. Hmmmm:crazy:
It only had one mag and I'd bet mags for it are hard to
get. I'd like a SIG 220 but all things considered, the
european mag release and difficulty getting mags; I
think I"ll pass on this one unless she puts a price on it
I can't pass up.

Yep, it's a P220 so mags are easy to find. Marketed by Browning.

yes...Browning doesn't make firearms...just labels them (for the most part)...Hi Powers are made by FN...the BDA .380 is made by FN or Beretta...and the BDA 45 (and Super 38 and 9mm) are made by SiG Sauer before they sold their own pistols here in the States...

anywhere that sells SiG heel magazines (SiGARMS sold a bunch too) will be able to fit your BDA if you buy it...

The Buckmark is built in the States. I do believe Browning builds it, but I'm not 100% sure.

I believe Browning built the BDM as well.
