My new cat!

I adopted her from the Humane Society, where I volunteer weekly in the "Cattery". She's about 10.5, almost 11 years old, and she is ALL black. Not a single bit of lighter-colored furr ANYWHERE on this cat! I have NEVER seen a more black cat in my life! She also has, as you can see in the photos below, bright yellow eyes. Absolutely beautiful eyes!

I absolutely fell in love with her when I first saw her about 6 months ago. She purred and meowed at me, then flopped over on her side in her cage. My heart was sold.

She had a drooling problem when I first encountered her, but it seems to have cleared up, and she's as healthy as a horse. She has a vet appointment next week for a regular check-up.

She LOVES to crawl into my lap on a regular basis, and I just got her 2 days ago. She also sleeps with me on the bed, and will park her sizable bulk (I'm guessing she weighs about 15 lbs, if not more) right next to my face when I sleep. It's incredibly soothing. I have a single bed, so she has to walk around sometimes until she finds the right spot to sleep, which is usually on my right side, leaning against me. When she sleeps next to my face, she can stick her head out and look out the sliding glass door, which my bed is next to, in my bedroom. She loves going behind the hanging blinds and looking outside, which leaves a cute "lump" behind them where she sits.

Her purr has to be heard to be believed! Very loud! She's also got this cute, scratchy "I'm asking a question" 'Meow' that's short, soft, and sweet. She also has VERY soft furr, which I keep smooth and soft with a grooming brush, which she then likes to try and nibble on.

So far, she's adapted VERY well to my tiny apartment. She's jumped up a couple of loaded book-shelves that I have in my living room, just to check them out. Last night, my mother and I bought her a black collar with fake diamods on the back, with a silver bell in the front. She looks absolutely adorable in it!

This cat has brought out the "squee!" factor in me. And although a little loose furr has found it's way into some nooks and crannys around my place and on my clothes, it's a small price to pay for the sweet cat that I got.

I only have a few photos here, but I'll upload some more asap.

These were taken in an "Interview Room" at the Humane Society.

Enjoy!

Nice car! I have a formerly solid black female car whose fur now has a red cast to it from summer sun. She was a gift from a former coworker whose husband's allergies forced them to give her up.

I have a few other cats as well...

She is beautiful. I love animals and cats are no exception. I bet she just loves having a companion and being loved.

God Bless you for taking her in and being her family. Everything deserves to have "family".

When she arrived at her Forever Home, she was greeted with a warm lap and given a collar of diamonds.

And each night, she could look outside at things she had never seen before. Pretty lights, people, and other animals!

When she finally sniffed every corner, she settled down on that warm lap, smiled, and lived happily ever after.

That cat looks huge and very comfortable. I am curious how you know she is 10 or 11 years old?

Give it time, soon your apartment will have more fur than air.

That's what the paperwork from the Humane Society says she is; honestly, I'll just wait for my own vet to make a proper examination this week. Who knows? Perhaps she's younger? They had her age down pretty accurately; I believe it was 10 years, "something" months (can't remember off the top of my head).

Right now, I'm working her on small bowls of food, and lots of time/exercise/playtime with her feather wand. She's overweight and out of shape from being in a cage for almost a year.

I'm absolutely thrilled about this cat! She's just one big bundle of love. :hearts:

lol, I know, I'm anticipating it.
