NOS G17 (2004) - What would YOU do?

Greetings Gents:

Ran across a perfect 2004 production G17 - friend of a friend, that kind of thing.

Pristine condition, fresh night sights, clamshell box, etc.

I had previously owned a 4th gen G17 which had issues, and was sold after being 'fixed' by Glock (for some reason, my confidence in that weapon was never the same, even though Glock pronounced it 100 percent 'fixed'), so I have been looking for an older Gen 3, and up pops a pristine 2004 w/fresh NS, looks brand new.

So I guess the question is not so much 'what's it worth', rather:

What value would you put on a pre-BTF, pre-FTE, classic, pristine, G17 w/NS?

I know that I am willing to pay a bit of a premium for these features... but I want to make sure I'm not falling prey to an impulse buy and overspending.

Seller is asking 500 ( I thought to myself 'Hell, I could buy a new one for that!'... then my thoughts went back to my recent Gen4 fiasco, and I am aware that some new Gen3s have those issues as well). Plus, I much prefer the old finish over the newer variants of the Glock finish, but I can also trade one of my stock G23s (also pristine - made in 2006) and 50 bucks to offset the cost of the night sights.

There was once a time where I would have said there was no way in Hell I was paying 500 for a G17 w/NS, but NOS G17s like this have been becoming few and far between... and the trade option closes the gap even more.

What say you, GT?

Worth it to get one of the G17s from the days when perfection was spelled with a capital 'P'? Something also tells me that prices won't be going down any time soon, either... but that's another rant for another time.

That is from the heyday of "Perfection". I'd get it or sure. Though the Gen 3 17 is my personal favorite.

Stuff that is not made anymore will cost what the market will bear.

You can buy a brand new P.O.S. just like it for $500, or you can buy a NOS non-P.O.S. for $500.

No! No! No! You would be missing all the features of the new Glocks. Way too much money. For Heaven's sake don't even think about buying it. Just send me name and phone number of the seller so that I can let that person know how unreasonable they are being.

$425 tops, 8-year old night sights are nearing their life expectancy and might need replaced soon.

I bought a brand new 17 gen 3 last year at a gun show for 525 out the door. And that's with the stock sights. But I wouldn't trade it for nothing. 3000 or so rounds without so much as a burp.

One can spend 500.00 or more for a new Gen 3 or 4 that is what now passes for what Glock considers perfection or one can spend the same for what really is Glock Perfection.
A person has to decide if they want a Glock that functions as it should and then decide what that is worth to them.
Thankfully I have 4 Glocks that pre date 12/06 production date and really are Glock Perfection. SJ 40

Traded my 2006 mint G23 plus 25 bucks to cover the cost of the NS. Both guns are extremely minty, and I could not be happier to have a G17 from that time frame, as I am starting to drift more and more away from the .40 as time goes on. I still own a few, but I am slowly moving into strictly 9mm, .45ACP, and 10mm.

Thanks for all your input folks - I was really torn as to the $500 asking price, but since I traded one of mine (A G23 safe queen that I was no longer in love with, that has standard sights) for this one (one I know I will shoot the living daylights out of - with fresh NS) for only 25 more bucks, I am extremely pleased with how everything worked out.

Thanks again - Based on some of the responses here, I went ahead and went for it - and I'm glad I did -even more so than I thought I would be!

If it had new night sights on it, $500 is a great price imho and I would pay it.
