I have been reloading my 357 magnum bullets for a while now. I have stuck with 125 grain JHP as I can get them to relatively inexpensive from a friend.

I am think about switching to a heavier bullet and buying bulk to save a little cash.

I was thinking about this bullet

I have been using Unique for both 38 sp and 357 mag.

My gun is a 3 in SP101.

Would the bullet above work well with unique? Is there another bullet that might fit my bill for a target/practice round?

I carry 357 125 grain.

Thanks

Is there another powder besides Unique ? Seriously , it will be perfect for range fodder .

I use the Missouri Bullet Company's 158gr SWC.
I use Unique and 2400 powder.

I run them hot and I've never had any leading problem in my Ruger Blackhawk.

My reloading buddy also uses the Missouri Bullet 158gr SWC. I shoot the hot loads from a S&W 586.

NMG26,

I have reloaded 357's using these bullets;
140g XPB HP (Barns)
158g XTP HP (Hornady)
158g LSWC (Missouri - match)

I like Alliant 2400 powder the best for this caliber, however, There are many powders that will work (from a burn rate prespective) from Alliant Bullseye to Alliant 2400 and perhaps even beyond. Powders with these bullets can be sent to higher velocities using powders like H110 or Winchester 296.

I try to keep my lead bullets under 1,000 fps to cut down on leading in my barrels, although most load data doesn't give you anything much over 1k fps anyway.

Good luck.

Unique is fine, but you can not get full power 357mags with it. For the Berry's, an ok bullet but w/o a crimp groove, not the best choice for magnum loads.

I have known Brad, the owner of missouri Bullet, for quite a while. He is a good guy. Very honest and sells a great product. Thier customer service and shipping times are the best in the bullet industry, hands down.

I load his 158gr SWC over 14.5gr of 2400 in 357. I also load his 148gr DEWC and the 158 SWC in 38 special too. I use Power pistol for full house 38s and AA#2 for target loads in 38.

Another vote for Missouri Bullet Co. I use their bullets in several different calibers with great results. Prices and shipping times can't be beat either. All around great folks to do business with!
