I was in a pawn shop and saw a Gen 1 Glock 17 with the eagle stamp and the letters "npv" stamped on the frame and barrel. Now, from what I understand, this means it was made in Austria. They were asking 400 for it, but the price is marked out and now they are asking 375. The guy says they've had it for 3 months with little interest. Is it worth spending the money? I mean, help me convince my wife. Lol

I will skip my usual sarcasm and say BUY IT. Just do it. Figure out the explanation to your wife later, I understand the need to agree on purchases. BUT this is a Gen1. Good luck coming across another if you pass this one up.

just remember not to lube it too much, that will give the barrel the drips.

Turns out it's a Gen 2. :(

They had it listed as a Gen 1.... Kinda sucks, but oh well.

Here are the pics of my recent purchase. I've done a light cleaning on it and noticed that the guide rod has a significant bow in it. I still haven't fired it so I'm not sure how it fires. All the innards seem to be original.

I've seen Gen 1 19s and 17s go for as high as $800 - $900 on Gunbroker.com. I'm always serching the various sites for good used guns, so $375 is not a bad price for a Gen 2 either, depending on the ship cost and FFL.

Someone said something about sending it to Glock to have the parts "updated", it's this necessary? I'll shoot it first, but I'm just concerned about the flexed guide rod.

Personally, I would skip sending it back to Glock and just buy a new RSA.

Me too.

Nice pick-up jbailey8.....around here the Gen2's are going for $400-$450 when you can find one. Yours appears to be in great condition. Congrats!

That was exactly my thought. The trigger is so smooth. I would hate to get new springs and such at the risk of compromising the trigger squeeze.
