I bought a G26 2 weeks ago and love it for carry but bitten by the Glock bug !! I have been shooting Sig's in compact 239 in 40 and full size 220 in 45 but the 239 in 40 is 30oz empty too heavey for carry! So now I am thinking of a Glock 30 or 36 . The grip on the 26 fits and feels great only with the Pearce pinky extension . I tried out a HK 200SK with the pinky extension and it seemed cramped and not as full as the 26 . I plan to sell the Sig40 and get a Glock 45 . I guess the problem is the 36 appeals to me due to the single stack lighter weight but the fact that I can't put larger Glock mags in it as a backup is disappointing like on the 26 where i can use the G19 back up mag! I have not fired a 45 Glock in any model the big question might be does the 36 recoil outrageously more than the 30 with it's extra weight??

Any help appreciated !!!

No. It has more felt recoil but it is easily managed. I like the 36 much better. After 6 years of having both I sold the 30 and don't miss it.

Never shot a 36, but my 30SF has such a soft recoil its kinda hard to explain, but its a dream to shoot and has less recoil than my G23, .40S&W... my vote is for the G30 or if ya like the slim wait for this new G30S to come out ..

10 + 1 suits me. 13 +1 with the G21 mag. Also my EDC. Just my .02

I'm looking at both also. I have been carrying a 23 and 27 for about 4 years. I like the idea of the 30 but I'm thinking its thicker than I would want for carry. my thoughts are a 30 for a house gun and able to carry if needed. but if it was mainly a carry gun I would have to go with a 36. I would just like to have a Glock in the .45acp and the 21 is just to big for my taste.

I had a 29 (same size as 30) ... Great gun , just a little too chunky. I'm planning on picking up a 36 this week to go along with my XDs single stack .45 for carry rotation.

6+1 of .45 in a gun the size of the 36 is plenty of ammo for me god forbid I ever have to defend my life ... Pearce extension +1 gives 8 rounds which is definitely suitable for a carry gun.

I love my xds , but when I recently handled a 36 I was so impressed with the "feel" , size / weight that I must own one.

I would opt for the G30 but I also would not sell the P239.

I really didn't like the Pearce grip extension, the standard mags fit perfect!

I've shot both, and I can't tell any differance between them. (love my G36)

I have the 30sf and love it. Being able to use G21 mags is a bomus. I have large hands so the double stack grip fits my hand better then the single stack G36.

I'd go with the G30.

If you go the G30 route do yourself a favor and look into the sf model. I have one and I am very pleased with it. It's very comfortable to shoot and extremely accurate. I found it has less felt recoil than my friend's G36 and gen2 G23. More of a push vs the sharper snap of the 36/23. For me I find it conceals with jeans and a T shirt, IWB better than my G19. Good luck with your decision.

The 30 shoots a little softer but the 36 is still a pretty soft shooter, in my opinion. I think the 36 is about 4 ounces lighter than the 30 unloaded but it's about a 6 or 7 oz difference loaded. The extra weight and thickness of the 30 didn't work for me for IWB carry. I'm good with the 6+1 capacity of the 36. They are both great guns. I just don't like carrying the 30 myself. I carried an officer size 1911 for years but switched to the G36 because of the weight difference. Everyone has difference preferences though.

I own both, the 30SF and the 36.Love the feel of the 30 but I carry the 36. I sold an XDs and purchased the 36. The XDs was just too thin for me to get a secure grip.

i had a G30sf, great shooting gun, lots of options to go with. i switched to the G36 only because the 30 was too hard for me to conceal. the 36 does recoil a bit more but is still easily manageable. also, i agree that the mag options a negative, but if you carry 2 or 3 for back up you should be set. it's hard to believe no one has come out with a 8 or 9 nine round mag.

I have a 30SF and a 36. I like them both. But, if I had to get rid of one, it would be the 36, because the 30SF is much more versatile for a slight increase in weight and the 30 with the optional 9 round magazine is shorter than the 36 with the standard 6 round magazine.

I recently bought a G36 to use as a carry gun. The only thing I have done to it so far was to change the magazine base plate with a Pearce +0 to give my pinky finger a place to go. Better control and handling was my main goal here. The G36 is smaller and thinner and in my opinion, that makes a better conceal weapon. 6+1 in the gun and a magazine with the Pearce +1 extension gives you 14 in a pinch and should be able to handle most any situation.

The G30 is an outstanding 45acp pistol.
It's closer to the G19 in size than the G26.

I'd get the G30.

The one bonus for the G36 is you can use the same holster for the G36 and G26 in most cases.

I have both the 30 and the 36. The 36 is small enought to pocket carry during the hot months here in Kansas and the 30 is carried during the colder months in a 5.11 tactical t-shirt and 2 spare model 21 mags on the opposite side.

For me the 36 has bit more recoil than the 30 but still controllable. While I like the added rounds in the 30 I would be hard pressed to choose between the two of them. As always, try to shoot both before deciding. Who knows, you might end up with both!

The G30 is a fat gun. It is also the first pistol I ever bought. Mine is a Gen 3. Still have it and always will although it doesn't get carried much anymore because of the width. It serves me well as a range and nightstand gun these days.

I EDC a G36. I had a G30 but traded it for an AK variant. The G36 is the best shooting, best feeling, best looking pistol I know of. My BUG is a G21.

That's why I'm picking one up !!! I agree , it's IMO the most underrated carry gun in existence.

I like my G30. I sold my G36. I like the fact that my G30 will take other magazines (G21) and the G30 shoots better for me than my G36.

I have had several Glocks through the years, and my G30 shoots the best. It will be very hard for me to depart from .45acp. I love this caliber and enjoy shooting several pistols made for it.

Good luck with all your choices.

G36 is much more conducive to carry than the bulky G30. The recoil of the G36 is very easily managed by me. When I used to carry a G30 (sold), it was uncomfortable and heavy. The G36 is is very comfortable to carry. I carry IWB by the way. If a comfortable carry pistol is what you want, then the G36 is the answer.

I've never shot the G36, but was considering both earlier this year. I went with the G30 for capacity and magazine compatibility with the G21. I've had 2 G30s now and this one is a keeper. It is totally stock and mainly serves as a Home Defense Gun. I do carry it in the winter months with a Don Hume OWB holster. The G30 is an amazing shooter, soft recoil and very accurate...

Great thread. Have the G32, but going to gun show at Dulles tomorrow and check out the 36. Toggling back and forth between the 36 and the Sig 226 in .357 sig. Would be able to share ammo with the G32. Reloading .45's already and already have 2 .45 1911s. So many guns, so little time.

Shot both the G30 and G36,I just prefer the thinner grip of the G36 for CCW.But you cant go wrong with either one.

The G30 is the most accurate gun that I have. It is my bedroom gun because its reliable and high capacity for a 45. Its tough to carry though. Both of these options are not great ccw guns imo, but they are great guns nonetheless. Springfield XDS is something to consider for ccw and probably going to spawn a whole new line of ultra compact 45's.

The G36 is, for me, the best CCW pistol around. Have had a 30sf, too fat, went with the 36 and she is just right. Sweet shootin' too.

Kahr PM45 is very close to the XDS in size.

I have nothing on my G36. OEM just like Mr. Glock intended. My G21c has a 22 pound guide rod spring though. Between the compensation and the heavy spring my G21c is a smooth operator.

If you a manly, you can carry the Glock 30. The Glock 36 is a nice woman's gun.

I have had and carried both. I really love the G30, If your hands fit the grip, I would say it is excellent. Dont worry about recoil, its a non issue.

Carried a Colt oacp for years. The 36 carries a lot better for me and I can shoot it well. I would not call the recoil "snappy" but you know you are shooting a gun.

I have no experience with the 30 models,I wanted thin and light so went with the 36. Carries very nicely in VM2.

The extra 36 magazine is easy to carry too. So I have 13 rounds with me.

Good luck with your decision!

You are well kitted as far as Glock 45's go. I own them all to include the 45 GAP's The two you have are probably as good a selection of the spread you can get with 2 pistols.
