I saw the thread title and immediately thought "Faa DOESN'T have one?!"

Only one I've ever played with was a Colt. Was fun as heck to shoot, but would have been more fun with a short barrel.

I've got a couple.

Thoughts & suggestions?

Get extended SS pins.
SBR it.

Ammo?

Anything but Russian ghetto ammo.

Mags?

The Hytech block follows whichever one I'm using. I don't trust the modified mags... though they haven't really been that bad.

Pics?

Wow those are some nice rifles! My compliments! I'd love to have an arsenal like that someday! I am interested in getting a 9mm upper to use on my AR's lower, got any suggestions for a decent one?

Bought one tonight,.....who has a 9mm AR?
Bought a RRA mid-length, so I'll be using Uzi modified mags.
Thoughts & suggestions?
Ammo?
Mags?
Pics?If I remember right the uzi mags will not hold the action open after the last round is fired. RRA with the magwell block should accept the steel promag magazines that do support this feature. Mine is a frankenstein 9mm SBR.

The main guts are M&P15 lower, DPMS parts kit, RRA 2 stage trigger, CMMG upper, Tros 5" barrel, Spikes 9" handguard, SWR Octane-9 HD, and Magpul furniture. Absolutely love the rifle.

We have the SMG version at work. Semi/3rd burst. Wish it was full auto!!

Nice weapon, but I like my Uzi's more.

Got a Aeroprecision multi-lower with RRA 9mm upper. Runs perfect and one of my favorite to shoot. Not picky with any type of brass cased 9mm ammo. I use C-Products 32 rnd mags which is a new company now called ASC. http://ammosc.com/storename/ammunitionstoragecomponent2/home.aspx

I have a Colt 9mm AR and love it. I have to say its probably my favorite AR. I am now saving to buy a flat top model. I was lucky and was able to find 10 of the colt contracted C-products 32rd mags at the gun show. The lady let them go for $15 bucks a peice. I took all of them. :)

shot a kit gun a buddy built. i don't remember where he got the kit but it used colt mags. it ran like a sewing machine and he never had a problem with any type of ammo. the only bad thing i can say about it is i have to wait till next year to build me one...

Same here. I got rid of the plastic shell deflector and installed a regular dust cover on my AR6450 and I'm saving for an AR6951 (flat-top). Shooting my 6450 is a lot of fun.

I have a Rock River AR pistol.
I may SBR it some day, but it is a hoot to shoot with a single-point sling.

Very well, thank you. Runs like a top.
It is Rock River's stock carbine-length tube for AR pistols - it will not accept a stock.

I was just being cheeky there--but it certainly is very fuctional. If I had to go that route I would pick it too.

I know - I was just playing it straight.
Much easier to SBR a pistol (change buffer tube and add a stock) than a carbine (cut or replace barrel).

Colt 6450 9mm carbine here with Aimpoint comp M4, Troy 13" Alpha rail and Troy BUIS. I love this 9mm carbine and it has been a fantastic shooter. Plans are to cut the barrel down to 7 1/2" and add a can. I took it to the Knob Creek MG shoot this past October and here it is on the right next to my DDM4.

I love my colt ( ser. # 1400,yeah it's old) but works like a dream. It's the first ar i ever bought, and the last one I would ever sell. And it's great for newbies.

I didn't know RRA made a A1 style Upper. I thought they only made the A1 and A2 Uppers. :dunno:

faawrenchbndr

They didn't,.........upper receiver is a genuine Colt 9mm A1
upper, that will soon be replaced with an M4.

Sorry, I’m confused. I thought in your post you said it was a RRA Midlength and that was the picture of it.

Or did you use a Colt Upper with a RRA barrel and BCG? :dunno:

faawrenchbndr

RRA mid-length factory upper. RRA barrel & bolt were kept.
A2 upper receiver was changed, ie replaced, with a Colt A1 receiver.

Make sense?

Have you ever thought about ramping the bolt? I am thinking about it.

Yes,......I am considering having ADCO do that.

Thatís where I saw it. I have been thinking about replacing the 2 Stage RRA trigger in my RRA midlength with a Geissele SSA Trigger. Then take that trigger and put it in my RRA 9mm carbine.

I've been to there shop before also. That is one small place. Their store has goofy hours to if remember correctly.

They also run a gun event at a gun club each month. It's kind of like IDPA but with handguns, rifles and shotguns. It's like $20.00.

I have one of the early Colt 9 mm AR15's. It has the semi-auto only bolt that does not have a hole in the top of it to clear the full auto hammer. It has to use the short 9 mm hammer.

faawrenchbndr
11-29-2012, 17:37
I don't believe those can be ramped.........

GIockGuy24
11-30-2012, 03:19
The bolt can be changed for the select fire / newer style semi-auto type. The original Colt semi-auto 9 mm bolt does not have the window in the top of the bolt. A 5.56 hammer of any type will not clear the top the early Colt 9 mm bolt. I believe the later semi-auto Colt 9 mm AR-15's use the same bolt as the select fire models. Mine has the early standard, full length ejection port cover, not the newer, shorter 9 mm style.

Very true,......CMMG makes a darn fine 9mm bolt
