View Full Version : Gen4 G19 Performance Update
By now, my G19 has about 5,000 rounds fired. I just returned from a Masaad Ayoob 4-day class in South Caroline. Two days shooting in the cold rain and mud. Shot about 500 rounds of Blazer 115-gr aluminum. Zero malfunctions and the only brass that hit my head was from the G17 6 feet to my left. Only downside is now, after shooting 1 day with speed reloads, magizines dropping in the mud, I have to clean 26 magazines.
Overall, the class was fantastic and I am 100% satisfied with my Gen4 G19.
Did you have ejection/extraction/BTF issues ever in this pistol?
Nice range/course report...thanks
Thanks for the report Danny.
Thanks for the report. Sorry the weather was not better. On the other hand you know it works well in the rain now.
The pistol has always been 100% for me. It has the original August 2010 ejector. I normally shoot my soft 147-gr reloads but for class I choose quality factory ammo.
Training included Weaver, Chapman and Isosceles stances, standing, crouching and kneeling, and one handed strong and weak hand shooting, shooting with eyes closed and shooting with shaking hands.
I could only manage a 275 out of 300 in qualifying--due to fatigue. Group average was 288 for the 13 shooters in my group. The 12 shooters in Group 2 averaged 283. Colonel Kitchen, USMC Retired, using a nice 1911, shot a 300.
Pasting targets while standing in ankle deep Eastern SC mud is no fun.
i thought your gen4 g19 was always working fine? i would have thought you'd have more than 5k through it by now, what gives?
It has always been working fine. The 2-day class was under less than desirable conditions. I shoot it in every match, but I also shoot the Gen2 G19 in every match and often the Gen4 G37 in matches. The 1996 Gen2 now has 86,000 rounds fired.
Yoou might have to break out the garden hose for those 26 mags.
Glad you enjoyed the class.
Same for my shooting boots.
Ahhhh, there is only one problem Danny...................... You should have used your G38 in the course! Whats the matter with you???????
"Cold Dead Hands" !
Massad Ayoob, he has a good rep !
What were the most important things you learned ?
What hours of day did it take place, breaks, etc.
What was the cost ?
Hope you wore water proof boots & jacket !

Cost, $800.00 for the 4 day class. Either two day class alone,$400.00
Greatest range lesson learned--weak hand shooting with McMillan stance.
Greatest class lesson--everything, without exception.
