View Full Version : Options for 9mm 1911 carry size
Looking for a 9mm 1911. Looking for 4" carry size similar to the Kimber Pro Carry..who else offers this type/size gun? Been hunting on the net and can't really seem to find anything other then Kimbers...was hoping Sig offered somthing but if they do I can't find it...and before I get ask why 9mm because I already have a couple .45's. Thanks for any help..

Ria...
Springfield EMP or Dan Wesson ECO.
I believe the EMP is only available in a 3" barrel...

Correct. You said similar? I don't see how having it be smaller is a minus?
Just like the feel of my Pro carry better then the ultra.

Dan Wesson has the Gaurdian, 4.25" barrel with a bobtail. Basicly same size as the Kimber pro.

If you can find it, a nice old Colt 9mm Commander.
Colt 9mm commander
STI Ranger II
Dan Wesson Guardian
Para Ordnance LTC 9mm
Kimber Pro
I have owned all of the above 9mm commanders. All are excellent pistols and have served me well. I still have are the Colt and Para in commander size and I have a Kimber Pro chopped to make a CCO.
I say go with a STI 2011 in the 4.0 size. They are no larger than a similar 1911 and hold twice the rounds.

Look at a Sig P938, just bought one for my daughter. I was impressed with it. May have to change my daily carry. Dairel

I was looking for a new pistol and I had the opportunity to shoot someone elses Springfield Armory EMP, I thought it was a good pistol, but I didn't care for the Novack rear sight. I could not justify the expense, so I purchased a brand new Kimber Ultra Carry .45 ACP for $450 less than I would have spent on the EMP. It carries about the same as the EMP and I have an extra $450 for ammunition, holsters, etc. I do not regret my decision. If recoil is an issue, you might look at the Kimber Ultra Carry in 9mm.

I'm with Quack on this one.
I like the VIP. It's like a badass Glock 19.
Be prepared to have some tuning/load development done to get it to run like you want though...

The bottom line is that if I can't get the job done with 5 or 6 shots, I need to change my training regimen. Any 1911 will do just fine. Choose the pistol that is easiest to conceal and train, train, train..........................

Wow, EMPs must be REALLY expensive in your neck of the woods because they run ~$1050 everywhere else or rather that's what they can be had for online.

If you can find an EMP in my area they are really expensive. With tax an EMP would cost me about $1270. With tax I paid $819 for the Kimber Ultra Carry that had been at the shop for a while. Nowadays I would have to pay $868, which is still $400 less. The Kimber 9mm is about $80 higher.

The Sig P928 may be too small but it is pretty neat!

I've carried my Bul M-5, but they make a commander length that'd be awesome for CCW.

Double-stack, full polymer frame with stainless frame insert. It's the rails, trigger guard, and upper 1/2 of the frame, still alot of metal in it. It's heavier than my glock frame.

Bought an EMP9 NIB $1048 (before tax). IMO, an excellent EDC CCW.
