I am thinking about getting a new TV. My old one is a fairly decent 35" RCA Home Theater TV. Not worth the hassle of trying to sell it on Craigslist for a few bucks, so I thought maybe I could give it to some family that might appreciate a TV for Christmas.

I have no idea how to find somebody like that. Anybody have an idea?

Also, TV recommendations would be helpful also. Around 50", no real requirements other than watching The Walking Dead. No gaming, internet etc is necessary.

Ask your closest people if they know someone who needs an upgrade.

Both of my closest people have way better stuff than I do. It's a 20 year old CRT. I just don't know people that are in a situation where this would be considered a good gesture.

It's really not worth a whole lot, but someone might get good use of it.

Take it to an animal shelter, or other good charity that can sell it. Or, give it to a residential shelter of some sort.

What AF said. We have a thing one of the local radio stations does in KC, hope for the holidays. Some folks have some hard times and need a hand up.

Not sure if you have a similar thing in your woods, but if so maybe somebody like that could put it to good use.

On a nice day with no rain/snow predicted, leave it on your curb and post an ad on Craigslist's free section with your address. It'll be gone quick, I imagine.

Donate it to charity, take the write-off on your taxes. Win/win.

Its a CRT, it has absolutely zero sale value and almost no give away value. You would even have to pay someone to haul it off. Your only hope is to offer it for free on CraigsList and maybe someone will come pick it up. Our CraigsList free section is overrun with CRT tv's for free and I don't think any of them ever get picked up.

Put it in your front yard, with a chain around it. Someone will see its inherent value and take it away.

Put it on your front walk with "$20" on it.

If you put a "Free" sign on it, no one will touch it, but if you put a price tag on it, they'll steal it.

Take it to an animal shelter

I agree. They can park it on the Animal Channel.

Contact a local church. I am sure someone can use it.

we are giving one away, a guy is taking it for his kids game room to hook up some kind of game, they still work great for games.

Saw some for sale at good will. Try there.

As for a tv for yourself, you just missed out on black friday and cyber monday,

A price range would be helpful.

Beat me to it. This is the answer, every time.
