my printer jams enough as a printer...i shudder at the thought of trying to fix f.t.f. on my h.p. laserjet.

That's the situation today. The situation (meaning the materials we can use) in the near future will be a slightly different story... and at some point in the not-extremely-near-but-not-very-far-off future this is going to be a practical thing.

Not that I think it justifies the author's opinions.
