Today I'm going to make my first 10/22 purchase,,,me and my buddy are going to buy 10/22's at the same time.

I want to get extended magazine (s) as well and there are several company's that offer them. BTW... I found a 30 rndr double stack by shooters ridge that looks pretty neet and priced right,,,,

What mags do I stay away from and what ones work like they should.?

I also want to get a mag loader such as butler creek for example....What loader brand works good,,,

I'm thinking of picking up a 10/22 soon, looking at the Take Down model. Saw a recent Hickok45 video on it and he swears by the Ruger extended mags...

For best results, buy only Ruger mags.

The new Ruger 25 round magazine are great! Metal feed lips and they can be taken apart for cleaning!

I have 5 of the Ruger 25rd mags and all have been flawless.

Some of the bulter creeks have been very good, but since they introduced the Ruger 25, I use nothing else.

Between my wife and I, we have 4 Ruger 10/22s. We also have several different magazines, and the Ruger 25 round mags definately work the best. They have been totally trouble free.

Yet another vote for the Ruger BX-25 (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/238525/ruger-bx-25-magazine-ruger-10-22-22-long-rifle-25-round-polymer-black)mag. They are robust, and can easily be disassembled for cleaning. Very reliable.

Good reasoning. I had to go the try and fail route but that was before PCs were in every household. A $500.00 investment in a PC would have saved me thousands.tom.:embarassed:

Congrats! The Ruger 10/22 is a great gun...I purchased mine approx. 40 years ago on sale; for I think around $30-40. Lots of fun and easy to shoot. I still have the same 40 yr old scope on it and can hit bullseyes all day at 100 yards. I plan on teaching my grandson to shoot with it for the first time. Too bad we live in Jersey and can only shoot at a range. When I was a kid, we used to go in the woods with our .22's and plink cans and bottles all day. Try that today in Jersey and they'll throw you in jail! Most of my friends had .22's and it was commonplace to walk around the neighborhood with a BB gun. Now, in Jersey, you actually have to apply for a pistol purchase permit to buy a BB or pellet pistol. It's also required that you have a Firearms ID card to buy a BB or Pellet rifle and you can only shoot BB & Pellet guns at a range. I'm so glad that I grew up in the 50's & 60's. Young people today have no idea what wonderful times they missed!

I'm picking one up this week with some Ruger BX mags! Is the take down for cleaning on these easy*or should i just run a bore snake thru and clean the chamber most of the time?
Thx. Slainer
