I found this in an old shed. It is steel or iron. About 100lbs. Painted grey like a ship.

It says MH V&F co. Anniston Al.

Close enough. I can't get the pic to work and I don't know why, probably something simple. If somebody smarter than me wants to fix, please do.

Looks like a pedestal for a grinder or something. That is what I would use it for.

nozzle for a water cannon.

That was my thought. Awfully heavy though.

Hmmmmm......A water cannon for home defense...Might work.

Very short pulse at extremely high pressure and it might be as good as a gun. Oh, well.

I would guess it is a handle stem for a large valve.

1) i have no idea what that thing is. sorry.

2) set fire to the evil folding table behind it. that thing is satan in lunchroom table form. i spent many an hour in detention sitting on those things or breaking them down and setting them up in gyms and cafeterias and have the pinch scars to prove it. if you search the writings and records of the marquis desade long enough i'm sure you'll find his original protoype designs and ideas for that vile pile of fake wood and jagged metal.

Apparently they make all kinds of fire protection equipment, I could see how it could be a long stem for a valve.

Doh, just now saw Janice was all over this already.

I believe it's called a stand pipe.

Wikipedia says "a vertical stand that fire hose can be connected to."

I was watching American Pickers last night and they talked about one of those.

Yeah they called it a stand pipe. Must be pretty common.

I was curious so I sent your pic to M&H Valve and asked them what it was. They said "This is the base to an old M&H Floor Stand. If you look on our website you will see what we can supply. The one you have we can't supply"

Here is a pic of a more modern floor stand with cast iron base from a different company

It's a "bejesus" cannon.

Using it, you can shoot the living bejesus out of something/someone.

That's the barrel to an old, first generation Glock in the little known "battleship" caliber
