I don't really believe in the whole Mayan Prophecy, Mad max,TEOTWAWKI going down on 12/21. However, is it possible there are wackos, who really believe it the end of times, that could come out of the woodwork with something planned before the "rapture"?

I'm just gonna go about my daily routine of class in the morning and then work in the afternoon. But I will be on yellow alert watching in case something should happen.

Headed to the condo for another epic weekend of snowboarding.

Just another day. And if it isn't, there's not much you can really do to prepare for TEOTWAWKI anyway.

Let's see.... I think I'll go to work, then come home and order Applebee's curbside-to-go, like my family usually does on friday nights, watch a good family movie with the wife & kids... then go to sleep (maybe after a little nookie). Then when I wake up on the morning of the 22nd we'll do whatever we want to since the world and life as we know it will still be here. Yep, as a Christian I believe in the book of Revelations and in the coming of the end times, but have no idea when it will happen. Maybe not even in our life time. It's not for us to figure out when. So, since the Mayans were not Christians... I don't believe in the Mayan calendar or that the world will end on 12/12/12. And if you're not Christian... hey that's ok... this is the USA... land of religious freedom. :wavey:

Work, then taking the kiddos to the Mickey's Christmas Party at Disney with a bunch of family who will be in town that weekend.

This Mayan apocalypse better not happen until AFTER the kids see Santa in the parade!

All told, might be an interesting day to be at a place like that. We planned it weeks ago without even realizing what day it was. Not that any of us pay any mind to the end of the world nonsense.

Why, you looking for something to do that day? A bunch of us could drop by your place for dinner. We can even bring the beer!

Get up... stoke the fire to warm the cabin, start the hot water heater, check the batteries and shift electrical loads, feed the rabbits and chickens, gather eggs, check the cats and dogs, conduct a perimeter sweep of the property, clean hands and make lunch, brew coffee from water heated on the wood stove, take a shower, get dressed, go to work for last day of work for the year... so basically the same thing I do now.

21st is the shortest day of the year. I have a long tradition that day. I go to eat somewhere that has a great south facing view. Last year I had a wonderful bowl of soup and watched the sun at it's lowest point in the sky. Nice to know the days get longer from that point. Great way to deal with Seasonal Affective Disorder.

We're starting to study the Maya in homeschool this week - so we'll do a review of it all that day, and a little lesson on the general gullibility of man just for fun. Maybe we'll listen to War of the Worlds. Other than that, a normal day - chop wood, feed cookstove, collect eggs, turn out chickens, do chores, crockpot supper...

probably be helping the kids to finish the Christmas gifts they are making, too.

Pretty much exactly, except for the Applebees :ack:

I've told people many times when these "end of the world" predictions come up. If you believe in the Bible, which I do.. the Bible is quite clear that "no man knows the day nor the hour". Therefore, whenever I hear someone predict a day, I automatically rule that day out. :).

Might be the 20th, might be the 22nd.. but I'm very confident it won't be the 21st.. :)

the same thing i did during the whole "y2k" scare, and the last 'rapture", i'll put on my work boots, load my pistol, and go to work just like any other day.

and just like those last 2 hare brained scares i will mock and ridicule all the believers the next day until they cry in shame and embarrassment.

when i'm done mocking them i will shamelessly make a killing off them buying all their supplies for a quarter of what they paid for them and a fraction of retail, then i will turn around and sell those same supplies to the next batch of believers in whatever next hooplah bull**** scenario comes along.

It kind of sucks.
My torn left shoulder was operated on Oct 10 and I still can't raise a pistol much above my belt with my left hand or hardly shoot two handed.

The left arm has to get useable by Jan 3, because that's when my right shoulder will be operated on and I become left handed for a few months.

I tore the left shoulder first time in 1995.
It was so much fun I thought I'd tear them both this time.

Anyhow, chances are, on 12/21/2012 I'll either be shooting about the only gun I can shoot, the Ruger SR22.......
http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x464/Bell-helicopter-407/RugerSR22.jpg

........ or I'll be at the therapist working on my shoulder.

In any case I'm pretty sure the old world will still be here.:)

I'll be off that day and go about my Fridays as usual. Wake up at the crack of dawn when my son starts crying to get out of his crib. Play with him for a while. Go out and grab a coffee then head out with a few buddies and either shoot at the club and/or do the usual gun shop run and hang there for a little while. Go get some lunch with the guys. Come home and hang out until the wife is done with work. Make plans to go out for dinner and probably buy the last of the Christmas gifts. Nothing special.

Change in plans, per the wife: going to use the free night's stay in a local hotel we won at a poker run earlier this year ($165 value). Probably dinner and theater or movie before hand, and a couple bottles of red wine once we're in for the night.....:whistling:
